Topic: Am i in labour?! Posted: 05 September 2008 at 4:04pm |
So i finally had my bloody show this morning - it is still going a little but has now turned brownish. Since midday ive had what i think are contractions - period like pains - and constant backache. The contractions very in range from 30mins to 10 mins apart and last about 20-30 seconds. The pain isnt unbearable at this stage, just uncomfortable...is this false labour or real labour???!!!!!!!

It could be either. I would have sworn I was in labour but it turned out to be false labour 2 days before Daniel showed. It sounds promising though. Just rest up!

Could be the early stages, is real labour when the contractions are consistent. So every 10 mins for example and will start to feel painful rather than just uncomfy. Definitely go and rest up.

Its so annoying not quite knowing. I kept getting told that 'you'll know' - yet I asked after I had been on the CTG if I was in early stages, or if it was building up to labour and didn't get a response from hospital MW (was in ward due to high BP) (I was 8 - 9cm less than 5 hours later.
I would keep track of contractions and maybe give MW a buzz to let her know whats happening and that things could be all go soon

That's how mine started - like period pains that weren't really that sore. I was up on the computer googling false labour to see if it was, then my waters broke so I guessed it was for real! And I had a show at the same time (just when I woke up with the period pains).
Hope it is! Good luck!

Ok so they are getting worse and are about 6-7 minutes apart and lasting 30-40 seconds. I spoke to my midwife and she said to wait until they were 2-3 minutes apart and lasting 1 minute. ugh. its gonna be a long night!

I was gonna say, that's very early labour, may or may not happen....
but then I saw your second post. Absolutely labour!!! It mightn't be too long, the early stages generally go for the longest. Looking forward to seeing a birth notice for you soon!!
