We are booked in for a one week family holiday in Surfers in November - yahoo!  I always have such bad luck on holidays - illness, earthquakes, and morning sickness.  Hopefully we get a decent holiday this time!

We are a couple with a 2.5 yr old girl.  Just wanting tips, advice, and inside knowledge of things to do in Surfers.  There are quite a few things in Surfers we would love to do, but gotta take into account our two year old of course.

We have a REALLY early flight - like 4.30am check in.  Wee girl is pretty alert and doesn't just nod off anywhere.  Wondering whether to give her Phenergan before the flight?  Or once we arrive at the hotel so she can catch up on sleep?  Or just wing it and see what happens?  She's not usually the sort who ends up as a screaming mess thankfully!

Things to do - we have planned a day at Dreamworld.  We will go shopping, but don't want to drag wee girl through hundreds of shops.  If we rented a car, what would make a good day trip?

If anyone else has been to Surfers/Gold Coast with young kids, I'd be interested to know how it went and what sorts of activities you enjoyed.

Hang out at the beach for a day, Cooper loved that when we went in Sept last year. There is one slightly north of the highrises where there is a nice park & beach.

We went to dreamwork/waterworld. Bought the pass for both cause there is a kids bit which is aimed at the little kids plus they have fun just playing in the water. Also he watched all the rides so didn't get bored really at all.

Hyperdome is good for shopping & has a good playground as well :)

if you have a car byron bay is a lovely drive and has some cool wee shops down there.

if your daughter is old enough (in your opinion) the currimbin wildlife sancuary is awesome. the 3yr old we took with us loved patting all the amimals (that we were allowed too) and watching the other animals move around and feeding them when they had the come feed the animals time slot.

Unless you know it is going to make her sleep don't give it to her. He doesn't have the seditave effect on my boys.

If you get a car and want a decent car trip go up to the Sunshine Coast (the better coast IMO ) and go to Australia Zoo, you drive past the GlassHouse Mountains which have history in Australia.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

We went to one of the malls and had a family photo taken where we all got to dress up as cowboys and cowgirls. (they had other themes) the kids loved it, especially having mummy and daddy dress up too!
