Topic: Acupuncture, has anyone tried it? Posted: 18 April 2011 at 1:23pm |
I have tried Acupuncture before to fix back and hip problems and found it good....
But has anyone tried it to get pregnant.
I'd love to hear all about it, as I have 2 friend that fell pregnant after having the treatment... but I don't want to tell them we are TTC.

The clinic I went to was amazing but it is now closed. So I can't go there.
Good idea though Kel.
I thought it would be interesting to hear of other peoples experiences too.

I had accupunture after a m/c to try to sort my cycle out as it was 45days. Went for one cycle once a week and was pregnant by the end of the 1st cycle (which incidently was still 45days!)
I was taking Vitex as well for the first half of my cycle so not sure if that helped as well but I did just feel so much more relaxed and "knowing" that I was doing all I could to have a healthy bub helped. I went until I was 13 weeks with DD.
I choose an acupunturist that specialised in fertility but in Welly so sorry can't recommend.
Best of luck with you TTC journey

I'm thinking about acu as well - the closest place i can find that specialises in fertility acupuncture is in invercargill and I'm in Dunedin but i have heard good things so i think it will be worth the drive! The lady suggests 3 appts in the first two weeks and then once a week following that. could get a bit pricey but i'm willing to give anything a go!

I used acupuncture and noticed a big difference in my charts and once things started to improve I got pregnant. Initially my charts were quite up and down and a bit inconsistent and after a few months of acupuncture they started to take on the more ideal pattern, so possibly balancing something in my body?

Hi, I had acupuncture while TTC#1 after 3.5 years trying with no BFP's in that time, I got a BFP after 3 months of acupuncture and herbs. I had acu sessions every 2 weeks and took herbs daily. Sadly that ended in early m/c.
Then another 1.5 years later, while on the waiting list for IVF, I tried acupuncture and herbs again, and within 2 months of treatment (same format again, sessions every 2 weeks and herbs daily) I got a BFP and that is our 2 year old daughter.
We're TTC#2 now, and have been for 1.5 years, I've been using acupuncture and herbs for several months, and have seen big improvements in my cycles from my charts, but no BFP yet, though things are different with my body this time as been through pregnancy, c-sect, and breastfeeding, etc, so takes a while to get back.
It's definitely worth a try, and has great success with TTC, it can work quickly for some as it did for me 1st two times, but don't think of it as a quick fix, think of it as a 3-6 months time frame.
Acupuncture works because it doesn't focus solely on the issue of infertility or TTC, it's primary focus it getting your body into balance, and when it's in balance, your hormones are balanced, and you will conceive naturally as it's what our bodies are designed to do. Acupuncture lets your body heal itself.
