Ava is 8 months old and is currently in the 0-6 month grobags. Problem is, she has reached the maximum length suggested for the 0-6 month bags and is the minimum weight for the next size up BUT her head is quite small so the 6-18month grobag slips right over her head!!

What should i do? continue using the smaller size?

I would keep using the small. Issy is rapidly outgrowing her gogo bag .. but she can just squeeze in ..

One of the other Jan Mummies just unzips the bottom and puts socks on her son .. now thats lateral thinking

Grobags don't have zips at the bottom

Hannah's 75cm and has been in a 6-18month bag since she was 5 months old. She's only JUST hit 8kg in the last month, so has always been under-sized for the bag, but haven't had any problems with her head disapprearing into it
(mind you, she has inherited DH's bobble-head...so hardly surprising! )

I am not too familiar with grobags as I made Jack's sleep sack, but could you somehow use safety pins to make the arm holes smaller so she doesn't slip out of the larger size grobag? Or alternatively add some domes or something similar

The Go Go bags have domes, so something like that might do the trick as Linzy suggested.

I put mine in 18-36 mth ones at about 9 mths coz I was being cheap and we never had any probs with them even tho they were hugely long.

Ahh old go go bags also have ties (instead of domes), so that could be a really easy fix for you.

Just sew a tie on each side (about half way down the armpit area) and tie underneath babies arms when she is in it

I have a 6-18 months grobag. Cause Mika is only 3 months I looked at a cheap sleeping bag to use until she's 6 months. However I found that most cheap options have much bigger holes for heads and arms than the grobag I have. So for the past week she's been using the grobag at night. It's very long on her, but we have no issues with her head slipping through. Since she's only 12 weeks, she doesn't wriggle around in bed though, she lies on her back and stretches a lot, but that's all.

i suppose if your fear was she would wriggle down you could either tuck the end of the bag under her or tuck it into the end of the cot, so she cant move down.

We have a great Merino sleeping bag for Phoenix. It can be used from newborn to 18 months. It has extra buttons that you can adjust the arms to fit and the neck piece stretches out well when their head grows. Phoenix isnt a big kid, hes smaller for his age and have been using this since 5 months.
