Any good mattress will be fine. Just get the mattress according to the cots size. I personally suggest you get an organic baby mattress. I got a perfectly good innersprung mattress for $10 on trademe. It has no stains, no rips or tears and is still in great condition!

Im using foam too - mainly coz thats what came with the cot! I have a Dr Sprott mattress protector too - Shes doesnt even seem to make a dent in the mattress but Im sure she will as she gets older. I'm with you, Teresa. I've only put foam mattresses in the cot, and at the moment Kiya is sleeping on a foam mattress. We went with foam, we didn't really have spare cash anyway. Little kids are so light that IMO they don't need innersprung because the foam is enough support. Thanks for all your comments....can't say I'm any closer to making up my mind as they both seem to have their own pros and cons.

I'll wait to see what size the cot is first and then check out the mattresses to suit that size.

we have foam.
haleigh was on foam, and has a foam mattress for her single bed and our cot has a foam for james.
haleigh always got hypo on an innersprung and would never sleep, she ahd more fun in bed lol.

we give our mattresses all airing all the time, and they are always flipped.

actually all mattresses need to be flipped, the mattress on your bed should be flipped and turned on a regular basis.

I just think they're only in the cot 2 or so years, and their heads etc. are so soft that foam is fine. Foam. Good quality heavy density stuff. I choose it because it was obviously the cheaper option & wanted new mattresses for each child. Also easier to maneuver around & change & flip etc. BUT the major con for me was apparently innerspring harbours lots of allergens & the spring coil things are a great breeding ground for bed mites.

Maya had foam in her cot (now has innersprung on her bed) and so do the gremlins. Remembering to turn them isn't a huge deal as their head makes an indent where they've been lying so when I change the sheets I always flip it so the indent is up the other end.

I got an innersprung for a few reasons. I thought it had more support, didn't want to remember to turn and flip a foam matress as I had heard you had to do that. I was also stuck on this, as my cot is extra big, so couldn't get an innersprung one here in NZ unless I had it especially made.

If you do a search, you'll find what others had to say.

That said, I've got an innersprung mattress (a friend brought it over from Aus for me).
