A couple of mine and DP's friends had their baby yesterday morning at 9.14am - she was due 20th December and was supposed to be induced yesterday but bubs got in first. A whole 10lb with HUGE feet (funny cos all the scans they estimated him to be a 7lber and she was TINY - no big baby belly for her!!!), went up to see them last night and ohhhhhh he is soooooo adorable!! Mum was quite lucky too, less than 12 hours of labour, around 6 hours of established labour and only 2 stitches!!! I even got to hold him which was awesome. So good luck to LL and emz - I hope you get to hold your little ones very very soon!!!

My little angel turned one yesterday i couldnt believe it really, i was kind of emotional cause she was my first i still remember holding her for the first time early last year(werid saying last year!) lol

No such luck, I'm still in pain but had an internal and nothings happening. M/w is classing them as BH because I'm not dialated. So depressing

She thinks that bubs is nowhere near ready to come out and will possibly be an overdue wee one. So on top of the pain and the lack of sleep, I now have to tell my MIL who will be angry because it will interrupt her holiday/work plans (she comes over tomorrow, and because I was told 2 days ago I was in early labour she got all excited and assumed bubs would be here by the time she came over). I actually just want to crawl under a rock and die. I hate being pregnant and just want it over. hey peanut thanks talia is doing better now she gained 220 grams still under her birth weight but the midwife is letting me keep her home she has to have all her birth weight back on wednesday or more though but shes at home! :D and im feeding her 100mls every 3-4 hours now so hopefuly she will be pileing it on! she looks like she is starting to get a few chubby rolls so hmm time will tell.
plunket come on thursday so yay going to ask them about coffee groups in the area sick of not knowing anyone down here its getting borring.
Oh yeh i have a appointment on tues with the doc about pnd i decided the other day i think i have it :(

Ooo the race might be on Tara!! Although I'm annoyed they didn't induce me, I simply can't believe they haven't done anything for you yet, especially with your SPD.

My m/w's ringing tomorrow night and will check me on Monday if I haven't progressed, at which time she said she'll probably send me in to get induced as it's taking too long to move from early signs of labour to actual 'early stage' labour.

Hope everything's going OK for you though. Still keeping my fingers crossed for emz and LL. I can't believe that you haven't been admitted and induced with all your symtoms, LL. I was induced the nxt day and only had a mild headache, BP and swelling. Hi all

Fingers crossed for you Tara that it's not too much longer !! Jess, my wee man was also admitted to hospital, as at 3 days old he just decided he didn't want to feed any more. It was a bit scary initially, but they looked after him really well, and put him on a nasal gastric tube, through which they fed him breast milk I had expressed (I spent a lot of time pumping !!!) His problem was that he had a really short frenulum (sorry about spelling), which is the bit under the tongue that kind of anchors the tongue to the bottom of the mouth, so to speak. This was stopping him being able to latch on once my milk really started to come in. Eventually we had the frenulum snipped, which sounds awful but is painless and takes just a few seconds, after which we had a 100% improvement, and breastfeeding is now going well. I hope your wee one is okay, and just remember they are in good hands if they do have to go to hospital.

Glad to hear your out of hospital Tara. And Sal - that is some impressive growth for Liam!

I'm trying to decide if I'm in labour at the moment. Feeling funny for the last couple of days, and have incredible back and stomach pains. They seem to peak every once in a while but can't really note specific contractions yet. Guess I'll wait and see. Have got to go to my GP and get my BP checked today as my m/w is away today and the hospital rang just to say to get it checked. Awww lil Liam is cute.

No Phoenix yet people, home with DF today and about to do some baking and maybe something in the crockpot.

Had another lil gush of something earlier, kinda like what I felt a week ago, just leaky. I am not holding out for my waters to go like last time, but who knows.

Midwife popped in this morning and took BP. 138 / 92 this morning. Better than what I had yesterday morning, but higher than what was taken at the hospital.

And, I am home again. Midwife told me to pack my bags ready for poss inducing and a definate overnight obs,and the hospital sent me home.

I had 140/98 BP and Protein +3. Also my uric acid levels were over, amongst other things.

Merry Xmas everyone, yeah we got back from holiday last night after not knowing whether or not I was actually going to be allowed to go until 9pm Friday night. Have an appt at CWH today with the foetal maternal medicine people to discuss monitoring and scanning of bubs for potential heart issues. I actually think that public is becoming more and more incompetent!

Had my 'urgent' appt booked for the 16th Jan, 1 month after I was supposed to be seen. I have no idea if I'll be induced yet, bubs had a growth spurt between 36 and 38 weeks so he's growing nicely now. Tummy is only 2 weeks behind now. I was up till 2.30 this morning with pains but once I went to sleep they seemed to die down and now I'm just feeling off. I haven't tried them all, I have mainly tried to be natural in the arrival of lil Phee. I have tried spicy food, lots of walking around (eg. yesterday), I tried EPO but it made me paranoid, did the tea (but not for long) and didn't take any tablets orally.

Went to see midwife today, she expects me to be in labour soon. It was meant to be a regular checkup, but my BP was at 140/98 and I have protein ++ in my urine (highest I have had, it was almost protein +++). She monitored me on the doppler for an hour, took my bloods and made me do a mid stream urine. Just got back from Medlab, as I dropped it all off. Been told I may be in hospital for observation this evening and / or possible inducement.

Yeah, I am hoping he wants to show his head (literally) by the weekend, that would be great. Starting getting some major back pain before, kinda a horrible pulsating / wave feeling, yet I have had no show or official waters breaking. Who knows. Feeling buggered anyway. Walked around 3 shopping centres yesterday, tried to get active, so hope bubs feels it, and gets the hint I tried to make.

Hey ladies, still nothing here. I officially have reached my due date, wowee. Never thought I would. Feeling really ill today, gurgly tummy and just generally nasty. My pelvis and back are killing me, this baby can't be far away. As of yesterday, my pelvis started grinding, it is a weird sensation, you can hear it clicking.

Hope Caitlin is feeding better, youngmumnz. I am sure you will able to get the assistance you need. Good luck.

Spent Xmas at Mums, was meant to head over to extended family gathering midday at Xmas, but had such a rough night with the pelvis thing, couldn't move and was just too tearful. Mum bought a plate of Xmas food back for me, which was so sweet. So it didn't feel like I had completely missed out.

Midwife appointment this morning at 10am, just a general check up. Had an internal the other day, my golly that was sore. Hope today, it's just a general pain free easy checkup.

Hope you all had a sweet Xmas, and if you are going away for the New Year, stay safe, watch out on those roads for idiot drivers.

Hey guys sorry havent been on in ages love the babys pics so gorgeous ill sort out one of my little munchkin soon.
:( baby Caitlins not well might have to go to christchurch hosp tomorrow the midwife is going to decide on a course of action tomorrow as all other attempts have failed :( Shes not drinking enough only 50mls max on formula as i had to stop breastfeeding at 3 days old :( shes not very wakeful spends most of her time sleeping and doesnt appear to have the energy to drink her bottles takes about an hour to 2 for the 50mls having to force it into her at the moment as she was only drinkin about 20-30mls at her first week cheek and lost alot of weight more then she should have and didnt gain much back after 4 days of increased feeds so they let me wait till her 2 weeks check to see if she has gained her birth weight back if not she will get admitted :(
scary as :S going to post in baby section soon see if anyone else has had this problem or has any adivce im freaking out.
Ill keep coming back to see how the bubas are and the new arrives due soon :D hope everyone is ok and x my fingers you have bubs soon ladyluck :D

i thought i would be in hospital by now as i had real harsh abdominal pains all day since morning and they were getting worse - but... they stopped a few hours ago and i was left with back pains only. so i guess its a false alarm
i give u all creds for putting up with it (especialy if u've had more than one!) i am so mentaly and physically exhausted

Hi everyone

It's been so long since I wrote. To cut a long story short, while still in Singapore I had a threatened pre-term labour at 28 weeks. However I was determined I was having my baby in NZ, things settled down and I made it home on 07 Oct. Anyway bubs was sitting really low by that stage, and I was panicking that he would make an entrance before his Dad made it home from Singapore. In the end Isaac was born 2 weeks early on 18 Nov - one day after his Dad arrived back - great timing !! He was nameless for a few days, as we hadn't come up with a name we agreed on.

Anyway, even though I had Isaac in November I'm going to keep on the December mum's forum, it will be good to keep up with how everyone is going now most have had their little bundles.

Hope you are all well and have a fantastic christmas - although I must admit, christmas seems like just another day now with having the little one. I'll post a photo soon.

The pumping is going well. It means that I feed him expressed breast milk every 2nd feed as currently my left breast is out of bounds to him until it heals .

Liam has been pretty unsettled the last few nights so tonight we're going to try him in his own room with a radio. The room is right next to ours so we'll be sure to hear any cries. I don't mind the little noises he makes but DH can't sleep he reckons. He can't be tired enough I think

My parents arrive in the morning for a couple of weeks holiday. They are so excited to meet their first little grandson & I am looking forward to introducing him to them.

It might be nap time I think...

He's so cute Peanut. It looks like he has a mohawk

Liam seems to be going through an extended growth spurt as he fed this morning at 6, 7 & 8!! The first feed was a big one but the other 2 weren't so big but still - my poor nipples [xx. The MW called yesterday & she has lent me a pump so that's helping a lot. He now weighs 3kg so has gained 180g in 2 days!! Just as well after all the feeding he's been doing.

I have unfortunately developed a breast infection so I had a rather uncomfortable night. Hot one minute & shivering the next. Thank goodness for the painkillers the hospital gave me is all I can say. I'm about to start on antibiotics so hopefully it'll clear up really quickly.

LL and Sarahcular - OUCH! You poor things!

M/w appt went well yesterday, BP has shot DOWN which is great, lowest its been throughout the whole pregnancy. Stress levels have dropped so thank goodness my BP did too. Still haven't heard from hospital, m/w really angry at them that they haven't even given me an appt time yet to discuss induction. I was supposed to get an appt no later than Tuesday. Now it doesn't look like I'll get one until at least the 27th. Good news is I can go away on holiday until at least then! YAY!

Topsy - I think I'll find out what you mean about very regular feeds. M/w thinks that baby's growth rate has slowed again, will find out tomorrow at the growth scan. Luckily he was within the right range before he basically halved his growth, so they won't do anything until at least 39 weeks, but looking more like around my due date. All good here but am hoping to be able to extend his feeds out a wee bit more at night as am not enjoying the 3 hourly thing although at least I am only up for 30 mins max. He has also started doing 1 power chuck a day which is really fun.

Things are going pretty well for me. She is now sleeping well but the 2hr feeds on the boob is something I could do without! Morning ladies, I went through a strange range of emotion last night. Got up at 5.10am in excruciating pain and a real need to go to the loo (don't you hate that, can't choose between lying dead still or going for a pee), so I slowly inch of the bed, make it to the loo and when I try and leave the bathroom I can't leave. Leaning on a wall, calling out for DF (poor DF nearly had a heart attack thinking I was going into labour) and almost doubling over. Felt like bubs was trying to turn again (a week ago he turned into optimal positioning)... my pelvis was crunching and cervix felt so sore!

DF helped me back to bed, and I said "this could be it" and cried and laughed, it was a strange moment. But alas, nothing. No show, no waters... It's okay, I am expecting the worse (ie. can't walk, can't talk, crying etc). My friend Jonelle just had her baby boy on the 15th of Dec and she said pushing was worse than her contractions (she found them quite bearable) so I guess it is totally different for everyone. She was induced also.

Yeah, I see myself at the birth centre recovering or birthing on christmas day. I too found the contractions awful. Initially they were manageable & I found I could get some relief with my wheat pack & by bending over the end of the couch. As time went on they got considerably worse... I am happy that I had an epidural but at one point it wore off & the pain was pretty intense. At this time I kind of lost it & told DH numerous times that I wouldn't be having any more children .

I don't want to scare you either LL . I dont want to scare you LL! The pushing out was fine but the contractions were awful (induction can make them worse I think and they were in my back) as they were coming one after the other and I was unable to move due to constant monitoring. I cant decribe the elation I felt when it was all over and I had a wee baby in my arms though. It was all worth it. Everyone is different too.

Does anyone else stare at their bubbas all day? Its amazing how much they change in the first couple of weeks, aye Topsy. Their facial features just seem to keep changing. I look at photos of Mac from Birth and 5 days compared to now and he looks so different.

It sounds like all the new mummies are going well. I dread the growth spurts...Mac has had 2 since birth and both times it has meant an unsettled night!

Topsy, once again Bella is simply gorgoeus. She looks so content . I love her hair too, she has quite a head of it

We had our first sleepless night last night with Liam wanting to feed very frequently. It was a growth spurt I'm thinking... The MW called yesterday & he now weighs 6lb 3oz so has gained over a pound in 6 days   

LL, it really sounds like it's getting closer. I had cramps being going into labour so I really hope it means something for you. Hey ladies, still nothing here. Every day I get more and more cramping and uncomfortableness, so I can't be far away. Had to do a urine test for uric acid (or whatever it is called) and another set of bloods. This is my fifth set, I hadn't even recovered from my last set of bruising, haha (oh well, it's not like it hurts or anything).

I am nesting like crazy, I am washing every small little thing, I tend to think that everyday is "the day" and want to make sure everything is nice for when I come home.

Spent last night at mums, she took me to the warehouse to buy some ugly yet comfortable knickers and nighties... oh well at least they are practical (they look like something an old granny would wear).

Tom is getting his fill of playstation at the mo, I think he knows he will be restricted when bubs arrives. Hahaha.

Baby dust to any remaining Dec mums to be, even if it is just Emz and I.

Sal, lil Liam is so cute!! I will never stop saying that, loads more photos please girls.

He is gorgeous Sally!!! So glad everything is going well.

Well after several nights of no sleep, last night she slept and fed like an angel so I managed a 3hr and 5hr stretch. Bliss!!!

I have never been so busy in my life!!! Hi girls

I'm still in hospital but hopefully we will be going home later today, otherwise it will be tomorrow. My BP has shot up so they're starting me on meds today for that. Otherwise we're doing really well. Liam is feeding like a pro & has been sleeping well the last couple of days so I'm very happy

His feeding tube came out a couple of days ago so here's a photo without it. He has pretty dry hands & feet which I suspect is b/c of lack of amniotic fluid. My MW & a doctor both tried to break my waters but nothing came out

Topsy, she is beautiful and so girly looking! Well Done to you both. Poor you having to feed hourly tho, not nice. I hear you on the Bp monitoring...makes you feel very restricted.

Its funny that Sally's was the smallest out of them all and yet there was no concern during pregnancy.

Mac was all good for my feeds last night so am feeling very special at the moment.

He has just woken and is screaming so best go feed him.
