Introduce your child about solid food it really a big landmark. Start is before take a right advice with doctors. Solid food important to make child body strong and healthy.

DS started before 6 months, he loved food. Now DD is coming up 7 months and will do the whole mouth shut thing too. I just cut up oranges and she holds them and sucks away. She likes the teething rusks too cause she can hold them. Banana doesn't go well with her tummy i have found. I offered food(puree) to my daughter from 6 months and she wasnt interested in that or finger food until 8 1/2 months. my now 6yr old didnt eat puree until 10months and solid finger foods till over 1yr. next child was 9months and 3rd child 7 & 1/2 months. We did BLW as well and started at 7 months and one week old. I am not sure at what age anything was digested properly. We started with water melon and I am sure the juice went in directly. Plunket also mentioned to me that there was Baby Led Weaning and there was no judgement. I wouldnt call her a lousy feeder,...shes very young yet,...Food before 1 is just for fun!

I would suggest looking into baby led weaning,...the book is available in librarys. Thanks. At the moment it suits me she's not interested...just started back at work, so trying to fit food in the busy morning schedule is a hassle I don't need...

Our DS was such a struggle to feed, we started at 5.5 months as he started showing signs of being interested BUT after a long long battle he finally started being interested in food at 10.5 months BUT only if it is made by watties or something similar not at all interested in the food I have made for him (however that is starting to change now as well). We did baby led weaning,...so offered food from our plates and never fed DS with anything, it was up to him. DS loved solids...started at 5mths, by 6months was eating a chunky mash.

DD however doesn't seem at all interested, shes 6 1/2 mths. Not only will she not open her mouth...she holds it so tightly shut that I think the plastic spoon would bend before she'd let it in.

I'm happy to go with the flow (she'll eat when she's ready), but was interested to know what the latest age was people little ones started to eat solids.
