my daughter goes to a community creche on the North Shore in Auckland - she started at 4 months due to my studies - it's $8 per hour (less my WINZ subsidy) - i supply nappies and formula - although as a community creche they are quite flexible and abit more negotiable on price

my daughter goes 2 days per week 9am-3pm (this is considered a part day) - local centers to me charge a variety from $50 to $80 per day

be careful when enrolling of any additional costs - heard of a centre the other day that charges to put people on the waiting list (this is non-refundable) and also charges $100 for portfolios which is extreme! - also look at what their policy is on public holidays etc

Homebased care varies in price, I know the mother of the child I care for pays $5.30 less her WINZ subsidy. I'm in Taranaki, and currently it's $157pw per child for fulltime care (less my childcare subsidy), I supply nappies, they supply food. They are moving to a new daycare in town shortly, and it will be $215pw per child (less subsidy) and again, I provide nappies and they provide food. In Feilding (manawatu) in homebased care I pay $6.50/hr and I provide everything, food,wipes,nappies, the lot. Another thing to make sure you bring up early is payment terms over when they take holidays, you take holidays, or your bubba is sick... Because that can cause a lot of grief (talking from experience)

At the moment I am working part-time so paying $180/week. When I go full-time it will be $325/week. Yowch!!! Man I hope they keep the 20hrs free over 3 deal going! Daycare at the moment costs the same as the local private primary school!!!! That still sounds a bit pricy for Tauranga. Who have you tried? Are you looking for a centre or homecare?

I'm not far away and I pay $2.40 an hour. Heavily subsidised by Anglican childcare. But even unsubsidised, it's $3.80 or $4 I think. For homebased care, where she is sometimes the only child with the carer.

Edited to add: we send her with food and nappies (MCNs). Also wipes but her carer prefers to use wetwipes so has her own. We drop her off, carer brings her home.

Wellington - we pay $3.50 an hour for over 2s. Under 2s is $4 an hour. However I am studying and she goes to one on campus. I think if you aren't studying it's $4.50 over 2s and $5 under 2s an hour. Thanks everyone for your replies :) I'm in Tauranga and talking to my friends I'm looking at paying $6 an hour for home based childcare. I have DD in sessional and pay $42 for two three hour sessions and provide everything. we were paying $55 a day - we supplyed nappy cream and lunch and formula if not on the 3 types they provided. they provided nappies, wipes, snacks and formula if it was the ones they had also they did sunblock in (the few days we had summer is wellington)
New daycare $65 a day they do all food we supply nappies, creams etc, and we supply formula.

Pumpkino, that sounds like our old daycare,wonder if it was the same place...

We payed $80 in Wellington city, provided formula and nappies and any creams, daycare provided everything all meals and wipes.

I'm in Invercargill and DD goes to homebased care - 1 adult to max 4 children.  I pay $5.60 per hour, however many hours apply.  I have regular booked hours and then I can book in extra casual hours if the carer is available, same price.  I provide nappies, food.  My DD goes out to activities/gym/Chipmunks as part of the care, and it is included. 

We also get the childcare subsidy so the hourly rate is further reduced.  Check out WINZ website for childcare subsidy info.

We are in Wellington city and pay $80 per day (7:30am-6pm or part thereof).

Parents provide nappies, formula (if using) and weetbix (for breakfast as we leave home too early to give it to him there - this is totally optional) and any other things that he needs like bepanthen or bonjela. They provide cow's milk, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea as well as wipes for nappy changes. Think it very much depends where you are in the country. I am going to be paying just under $800 a fortnight for full time care for my 2 DDs aged 3 and 1.
