We got Freeview when it first came out and have been happy with it. We're with Vodafone and get the my sky free which the whole family uses, I was thinking about something for our room, and want a recorder of some sort. I have issues with Tues and Wed nights now lol. There are so many shows that we want to watch and record and there is actually a clash when there are three shows we want to record. We usually record even if the likely hood is we will be home to watch as there is a number of us who like to watch the same shows so makes it easier. Also with DP working nights most nights we record alot for him. If we had a tivo or something in our room there would be a freeing up so to speak of the my sky as there are a few programmes that just us two watch that he could record in here.

Are you in an area that has Telstraclear? We got a free DVR (like a TiVo) with our TV+internet. Not sure if it's an Inhome only deal or what though so that may limit it.
I'm really loving the watch shows whenever thing though! So much TV I now get to watch that I'd otherwise have missed due to kids and needing to get sleep. I do find it's pretty rare I want to record 2 things at once, so maybe the freeview thing would suit better.

ahh I didn't think about that.
That could be PITA. But I guess you could set up manual recordings for your shoes, and make them recur, so you only have to set it up once.

I love our tivo too - but you do need broadband to download the programme guide - without that it doesnt know how long to record for so will cut programmes off.

We got our TiVo about 2.5 years ago (haha suckers that we are paid $1k for it) and it's been an absolute godsend. We have TiVo - love it.
We have Telecom broadband, but we don't use the services you get by having Telecom broadband.
You don't actually need to have broadband for TiVo, either. It doesn't work through your phone line, it all just connects to the TV. So you can still record two channels at once (while watching already recorded stuff, too).

What would you do?

Buy a Tivo for $200 (they're on special atm) and have to have broadband but be able to record two channels at once or buy a $150 freeview reciever recorder and only record one channel? I often don't get to watch tv at night because dealing with DD and I also have to start my study!
