That is very cool!! wish they had something similar down here. There is a dutch cafe in Riccarton, but I think there was another in Brighton which was shut down.

My partners family are all still in Holland so it would be quite good to meet other Dutch families down here, but I don't know of any.

There is a Dutch Delight in Greenhithe too.

My Dad is dutch and I use to know a few words when I was young and loved having an Oma and Opa who made dutch treats :) They both passed away awhile ago nd since then there really isn't any dutch culture left as Dad came here when he was young so sees himself as a kiwi.
I wish he had taught me dutch though.

Try to speak it lots at home. It's hard when you have a non-dutch speaking partner, but in the end it's the only thing that will work. I find with my DD (she's almost 3) English is now taking over, as I'm the only one speaking Dutch to her, and sometimes I'm lazy and just reply to her in English. But she still understands a lot of Dutch.
Can you play Dutch cds and sing along?

There is a Dutch school in Auckland. It's for 4 yrs old and up, but they might know about a coffee group?

We are down South.. Not sure about a Dutch coffee group down here but my hubby is speaking to our boy (18mo) when he remembers, and I'm slowly learning the language too (and I mean slowly, lol!). What area are you in? we are in chch, I'm not Dutch but my partner is, he is starting to teach our daughters a few words here and there, would really love for them to learn more, they pick up so much while they are still young.

Hi there,

I am Dutch, but came to NZ when very young, so am probably more kiwi these days :-) However I would like my son to learn about his culture and where his mum comes from etc, as well as learn the language. My parents never spoke it at home so I had to learn it as an adult.
