I haven't been in this situation but would agree more than $100 per day as she is totally responsible 24 hours for your children, and also the hassle of living in your home, away from her own home.

I would work out what you think she is worth per hour and then deduct board and food perhaps?

$13/hr is minimum wage. I think you can pay less for "on call rate" which is what I would class as when the kids are in bed. (e.g. So $13/hr for 12hrs/day and less than that for 12hrs/day.)

So I would be thinking a little bit more than $100/day maybe. Though I'm not sure if it will be taxed or not and I guess you might take that into account also.

I'm not sure - I don't have much experience with childcare rates, so this post possibly isn't any use to you, sorry!

She isn't a close friend...I guess a 'new friend' is the best way to describe her. I was thinking that exact figure. She has no idea what she should be paid..so thats why I want to get a few peoples point of views/opinions etc.

My partner and I are heading away for 2 nights, 3 days. We are getting a friend (ECE) teacher to look after our 2 toddlers. She would be living in our house.

Can anyone suggest a fair way to work out pay etc? Or, in your experience- what have you paid a sitter in the past?
