From Auckland, to Te Anau and back up again. I agree with the if they are asleep keep going philosopy! We did have her in a proper carseat which was a lot more reclined than her capsule, and just fed her in car if required,or cafes or picnic areas etc. Found one of those mirrors that you put opposite the baby so you can see them in the rearview mirror was really handy.

First time (6wks) I was worried about him spending too long in the capsule etc, but quickly got over that. Our policy was - if he's asleep, keep driving
I agree with newme, we'd plan to start a trip before his best nap &/or leaving really early in the morning also helped. Especailly on a hot day, I'd want to get to the destination before lunch even if it meant starting at 4am. Crazy you ask? Maybe but DS slept better in the am

It took longer (about 10 hours!!!) but he was fine.
I would leave just before she is due for a sleep, and have some toys so she can play in the car. I would say have one decent stop on the way and have a feed, play, nappy change etc, and then just keep going. And only stop if she is crying/needs a feed/nappy change etc.
