We didn't have any problems. We are borrowing one from a friend. I've got one for #2 who is due in a few weeks. I am a bit worried about DD using it like a catapult or something, lol.

I've bought a baby monitor so I can shut the doors between the baby sleeping in the hammock and DD and I. I don't think it'll be safe for DD to be allowed near it if I'm not watching. That may change with time, but initially I'll certainly not be leaving them unsupervised.

We are about to face the same situation, but i intend to use a stand this time, and if I need to, will put it inside a playpen or in our alcove office area (which is already baby-fenced). I just don't trust our toddler not to 'play' with the hammock. Our son was 20 months when our youngest daughter was born. We don't have a hammock, but there is no way I'd leave Hailey in her rocker when Sebastian is around. I've made a baby hammock for my new baby due in Nov, along the lines of the nature's sway one. It hangs from the ceiling or doorframe, rather than a stand. I'm just wondering how safe it will be to use with my boisterous toddler around. We have had it hanging in the lounge and he loves to give it gigantic pushes and swings.
