That is cool!
I am so pleased you have the MCU over and done with - it doesn't sound fun at all. I would have been a crying sook too. Isn't that typical for the sedative to be fantastic in the waiting room and then wear off when it actually needs to be working!!!
The results sound encouraging. Do you hear more later on?
Has anyone else been watching the nought to five series on TV? The one today was for one year old babies and was quite interesting.
Oliver and I have been outside this afternoon. He played with his toys on the grass while I planted some plants. He won;t wear a sunhat though unfortunately (keeps pulling it off his head) so we couldn't be out for too long. I am going to have to go on a hunt for some 'extra specially tied on type hat'
MUM!!! Oh how stoked was I?!! A couple of hours later though, she was doped up on that sedative that makes them forget things... she'd better not forget how to call me mum!

How are the gremlin's eyes today, Emma? I'd feel weird about squirting milk at them too... but I'd try it, that's for sure!

Doesn't sound fun but what Emma said sounds more reassuring. Will be nice to have it over and done with.
So pleased to hear Charli is on the mend.
Also pleased you are on the mend Natalie.
The Road trip sounds fun - I am in the wrong Island!!! : (
What a clever wee button Ruby is - they do learn heaps in such a short time. It is amazing. Ollie is very full on these days - he zooms all over the show and I have to be VERY fast to stop him! (Am now thinking I didn't need my gym membership after all he he) He has also just started pointing and it is so cute. He walks all around the furniture and a few times has taken his hands off and stood by himself for a few seconds (until he crashed down). He has a big bruise on his head at the moment the poor wee poppet.
Does anyone know what the deal is with the fourth Menz B injection. I was originally told to have it at nine months but then told ten months. When I rang to make an appointment they said there were none left in the country. They have them back in now and I was supposed to go today but Oliver has a cold. I have made another time for Friday but am thinking he is now eleven months old. It seems like a huge gap since the third injection.
Andie, your party plans sound wonderful. Go you! I love your theme idea. Did you manage to look at the littlies magazine with the pretty cupcake ideas?
What is everyone giving them for their birthday. We are getting a swing. We took Oliver to the park for the first time recently and he just loved it.
Have a good rest of the day everyone.
When i was in hospital for my appendix recently it was disgusting!! There was blood on the floor of my room and I could press a buzzer and still wait forty minutes for anyone to come! So frustrating!

Quinns operation is for undescended testes, basically they are sposed to be down 'there' at birth and they aren't. It is sposed to be sorted before he turns two otherwise he can have fertility issues later. I am sure it will be ok but as he is almost three and a half you can imagine how grumpy and scared I am about the whole thing! I don't really know anything much out it yet, we go to see the paediatric testicle specialist (who woulda thought there was such a thing? what would inspire one to become a paed teste spec?) anyway, so next tues and we find out everything.

Why didn't you tell me this morning that Miss Ella needs an MCU? Tsk, tsk! Still, not like we had much chance to talk, it was chaos! Sienna's had 2 MCU's and they are a piece of cake, she slept thru one even! It is a bit scary to watch coz they truss them up in a sling that looked a little like a coffin (but then I tend towards being a bit morbid ) but Sienna seriously didn't seem to care and barely squeaked when they put the catheter in.
Still, you do have the right to decline the MCU and request an U/S instead, and that's probably what I'd do if I was in your situation. An U/S would show whether there is any dilation of the kidneys or ureter (the tube between the bladder and kidneys) and can also show whethere there is an obstruction (ureterocoele) but that's highly unlikely as if she had one of those she would probably have had more than one UTI and it would have been obvious earlier. If the U/S shows no dilation of kidney/s and ureter then it's highly unlikely she has urinary reflux as urinary reflux causes the kidney/s and ureter to dilate. If the U/S shows some dilation then Ella should have an MCU to see if the cause of the dilation is reflux or not. PM/email me if you want more info

Anna - you are naughty too! You didn't tell me there was something wrong with Quinn! Tsk, tsk! I am going to text you tomorrow! I still have your baby legs too! LOL at Kaia not having any interest in moving, I wish! Mine take off like little monsters!

Hope the rest of the Oct babies are all well!

Birthday party! I've made an invite but haven't thought of much else. Jeremy and I were talking about cakes just before though, and he wants a 1 for her birthday. I was thinking then of putting on pink icing and trying to make some butterlfies to go on it too(that's the theme in Brenna's room) or if that fails, then I'll got to $2 shop and buy some little fake ones to push into icing. We don't know who we are inviting/how big or small it is going to be...

Well today I took Brenna to her first swimming lesson and she LOVED it!! She smiled and laughed the whole way through. It was heaps of fun with lots of singing. There was a little slide that the teacher put the babies at the top and the mums/dads waited at the bottom to catch them once the were in the water I can't wait for the next one!

I am amazed at how fast it all was, the surgery was only 15 mins, not even long enough for me to give Sienna a bottle while we waited. She had an allergic reaction which they suspect was to the anaesthetic, she puffed up around the neck and got welts but it settled within 1/2 hour so they are just going to mark her chart in case she ever needs an anaesthetic again so they can be aware of it.
The specialist said when he put the grommets in he had to suction out a heap of pus and that she had acute infections in both ears so looks like it's a good thing we had them done now rather than later down the track.
She woke up from the anaesthetic and sculled two full bottles which is great coz she's not usually a big feeder so maybe now her ears don't hurt she'll eat better too.

BTW Andie, she was in for grommets, just a minor wee op. Glad to hear Ella is home and getting better!

Catheters are nasty! Hope the antibiotics do the trick! But ahhh, kidneys, yet another of my many areas of expertise . Kidney reflux isn't treated surgically these days, it's treated using prophylactic antibiotics and most kids grow out of it. Sienna had Grade IV+ reflux (on a scale of I - V) but it has now downgraded to Grade III. She is still on the antibiotics and will be till at least 18 mths, but has had no complications coz of it. So it's not a life sentence! And I must admit to being really relieved that you said it's not an allergy to the tiny trace of white bread coz IMO allergies are way harder to deal with that silly old kidneys! Will PM you!
With the refusing bottles thing, one thing you can try if she gets dehydrated which isn't very nice but will be the first thing they do if she gets admitted back to hospital is syringe pedialyte into her. They hate it but it is the most effective way of rehydrating a dehydrated baby short of a NG tube or IV line.
Good luck!

I thought around midnight Sat/Sun she was having a reaction to the tiniest bit of white bread that she'd nibbled on Saturday, but she got worse over Sunday, and it turns out there's an infection and blood in her urine. We were in their assessment unit late into last night, but because she is old enough for oral (not IV) treatment, she could go home eventually, after a nasty experience with a catheta for more tests. Once they're back, we'll know if she needs a kidney scan. But her uncle had kidney reflux and they said it tends to run in families, so I hope it isn't that, as it's treated surgically. Anyway, I won't get ahead of myself on that - I'd rather just deal with what I know is currently wrong with her! She still may need to go back in - they're ringing me each day to check on her, and she gets more results in 2 days. But if she keeps refusing her bottle (her new trick ) I can't imagine things going well here.

So good that your Mum could be there to help out. Look after yourself.
Andie, I am pleased your appointment went well and that you are getting the test done soon. Will be so nice for you to know exactly what you can and can't give your little precious.
That is great about Sienna's weight Emma and I hope Mercedes will follow suit!
I finally got around to joining the toy library today and am very excited about this big huge toy we have home!! He He!! Certainly not something I would like to have in the middle of the lounge full time but good for a week or two. I proudly set it all up for Oliver and then he just crawled over to his own toy box and played with the old toys!!!!
Oliver is full on into everything! Up the stairs (only three incase anyone is thinking a big huge staircase!) into the cupboards, pulling up on everything and walking along so proudly. We have had a few jammed fingers in doorways - opening and shutting doors is the new 'in' thing!
I am really enjoying my new coffee group and it is making a big difference to getting settled in a new city. We are having a combined birthday party for all the babies soon which will be fun.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Better not tell Maya that Isla is already standing Kellz, you know how competitive she is, her chubbies have to beat Isla

Yay for getting a RAST test Andie, good luck with the results! Glad to hear that Ella's weight is good too.

Sienna's weight has picked up, she put on 200g in the last month, but Mercedes hasn't put on anything and the dietician is hoping it will pick up once she has the grommets in next week. She called yesterday to tell me she's plotting them as premies on the growth charts coz they were borderline premies and apparently if we put them on the standard growth curve they would be classed as "fails to thrive" I am NOT having any more fails to thrive babies after Maya, and I'm ok with their weights, they're around 8.2kg each, Maya didn't even get to 8kg till she was 12 months.
