forget about a bowl and spoon. Put the food straight on the tray, in easy chunks that can be picked up and eaten and let him go for it. If he doesn't want to be spoon fed, then just don't do foods that need to be eaten with a spoon

Just offer variety, and stick with it, and he will get there. Vanillabean - our first daughter went through stages of hating or loving the bath until she was three years old. Could you give him a spoon too with a little of the food in a small bowl for him perhaps? And then while he is distracted with that you can get your spoon in! They go through all sorts of phases with eating!

As for the bath, my DS1 was never a fan and still isn't really. He occasionally has one but refuses to sit down in it. We just shower him mostly now - much easier and then occasionally he will have a bath and because it is a novelty he enjoys it more. He is very freaked out when the water runs down the plughole though so we need to make sure he is out before we take the plug out.

DS gets really upset about 80% of the time when I try to spoon feed him. For a while if I distracted him by giving him something to hold he would open his mouth for the spoon. But he seems to be onto that now and throws the thing away if I offer it to him. When I offer him the spoon and bowl himself he throws both on the floor (after trying to turn the bowl upside down.) He is ok with finger food if it is something he feels like, which varies from day to day but he doesn't usually eat alot.

Anyone got any ideas about how to start him on self-feeding?

Also, about three months ago he started to refuse going in the bath. I have tried going in the bath with him, using bubbles, playing with the water first, washing him in the bath without water and washing him with an extendable shower head but the only thing I can do is sponge bath him. Any pointers on this one?
