The Avent and other dummies that are silicone and really thin just fell out of my boys mouth and he wouldn't take them, but the tommeee tippee ones were far easier for him to keep hold of in his mouth. Have reccomended them to friends who couldn't get their babies to take dummies and they worked every time.

Also my baby wouldn't take a dummy for a while but with persistence he learnt to, he had trouble sucking at first so I think it helped with that.

I wouldn't have bothered but she was prem and they wanted to encourage the suckling reflex then she had silent reflux and we thought it might help with the pain but noooo, no dummies for her. I get the impression that some babies just aren't interested. I do remember though that it was about that age that we had to work on self settling. I think their little sensory systems start really getting into gear around then and they are more aware of things around them. Maybe try other things like white noise, or a musical mobile etc?

So i figured if i let her feed and kept her on while falling asleep what would happen if i quickly stuffed the dummy in her mouth with those half asleep suckles and it woke her up at first and spat it out. But then when she was suckling in her sleep afew hours later i stuck it in success. She's now 3 months and i dont use it as much in the day mostly for sleeping :)

When DD's reflux was playing up I would hold her and rock while holding the dummy in her mouth. She would be screaming but she'd eventually start sucking (sometimes after 20mins). I also used to pop it in my bra for 5 or so mins to warm it up and get it smelling like me. Once she was sucking she'd settle really quickly but would spit it out if I wasn't right there.

DD never really took to them but we had the most success with them. (tried the tommee tippee ones too)

The sleepstore sell them so do most pharmacies.

If this is still a no go see if you can encourage her to suck on her fist ... Unfortunately there can be a fine line between when you give them a dummy or bottle and if you go over it you may struggle to get them to take either...

If its still not working you might want to google some self settling tips so she starts learning to self settle without needing your boob for comfort
