Check out the Evenflo Symphony 65. Rear facing to 15kg (from memory) then converts to forward facing and then booster. Similar price to the Radian but no need to buy a booster later on. majority of babies will reach 9kgs before they are 12 month old..it is best practive for children to remain rearfacing for as long as possible.

Personally, I definitely wouldn't buy one that only rear-faces til 9kgs. Babies and toddlers are much safer rear facing as long as possible. My boy was only about 10 months I think when he hit 9kgs.

Also be aware that it's not safe to go beyond the carseat instructions (so a 10kg baby is rearfacing in a carseat that goes to 9kg = not good).

IMO, a radian is the best out there. If you don't have the money for that, a Cosco is good too. Safe & Sound are also good - rear face til 12kg, so not super heavy but sufficient.

We have gone with a Radian XTSL (a little pricy but figured it would last till she was into a hlaf booster!), it RFs till 20kgs, and FFs till 36.
I found when researching carseats that RFing was quite important (for us, Im sure its not as important for other people) but you may want to check it out and see the difference between FFing and RFing. There are some great threads on here and also other webpages and youtube vids, let me know if your interested

Aren't the weight indication things usually the maximum? It'll definitely have maximum weight limits anyway, for safety's sake.

I would agree that rear-facing to 9kg is not long enough. My boy is starting to get a bit big for his capsule, feet starting to hang out and looking highly uncomfortable, anyway had a quick look at some new car seats and have found one that goes from birth to 18ks, has a rear facing setting till 9kg and can then be changed to front facing for over 9kgs.
