I'd definitely take a bub so little! Just be prepared that your wee babe may be pass the parcel.

I told friends with "babies" as in not moving they were welcome, but not older as my sister held it at her house and was definitely not mobile baby proof. Non bought them, but a friend bought her 8 year old who ate like a pig, drank about a litre of coke and made a complete pain of herself! I think it depends on the mum to be , some prefer the attention solely on them, so love to have babies there so long as you know what sort of person your friend is, just go with that.

I had my baby shower yesterday and had no problem having kids of any age there, I don't think I ever would have cared for one of my baby showers, I tend to like to be accomadating and I know that for some mums taking their children is easier, but I went to my friend's baby shower the week before and there would have been no way Id feel comfortable taking Tyler to that.

I held a baby shower for a friend end of last year and had a guest ask if she could bring her 5 week old baby and i said if she didnt i would send her home to get her and then she could come back! If it was my baby shower, I'd be hoping for cute little babies to be there I had two 3 month old babies at mine and was happy they were there.

I took DS to one when he was about 6/7 months old, but probably wouldn't now unless I knew there were going to be other kids the same age there.

I definitely find whenever I get asked to bring DS places it's as MyLilSquishy says - 5 min focus on him then back to the party

I went to a close friends baby shower and I didnt take DD (DH looked after for me) she was very welecome! Also there were two other babies there as well! But I guess it depends on the hostess but I am pretty sure she wouldnt mind as soon enough she will understand!

I took DD to a baby shower when she was 6 months old without thinking about it. I figure it could be about 3 hours away from home with travel etc taken into account, so will take him with me, and see how it goes. I guess if it was no kids they would say on the invite.

I had one that strictly said no children. DD was 1 at the time so much older. It was a someone elses very flash non child proof house and we were all drinking booze so i guess thats the reason.

I didn't even think to ask when I went to a baby shower when DD was 8wks old - I just took her with me and she slept in her pram most of the time, or was feeding.

I didn't take her to the one when she was 8months though. It probably would have been ok (I didn't ask though) but I just left her at home with DH.

ETA my cousin brought her then 12wk old baby to my baby shower and I didn't think anything of it, was great to see a tiny baby and know I'd be having one of those soon

ive been invited to 4 baby showers since DS was born
1st - i was asked to bring him, but was still recovering from CS so didnt go.
2nd - i asked and they said yes - he was about 3/4 months old.
3rd one i missed coz i felt gross, but he was welcome there too.
4th (upcoming) - ive been asked to bring him.

but i wouldnt hesitate to leave him with DP if they didnt want focus moved.


tbh - ive never noticed the focus being on DS instead of mum to be. sure when you turn up everyone is like 'baby!' and loose their minds (lol!) but you might get a few questions - the usual 'how are they sleeping/feeding/rolling/walking/crawling/talking etc' and a few 'oh they are so cute' comments - but then focus goes back to mum 2 be. especially at present time.



if it were me and DS was 8 weeks old i would take him. especially if he was BF. but if you are worried then keep trying to contact the host (even through mutual friends) to double check

I invited a friend to my baby shower with older kids 5 & 2 and I didn't even once think she wouldn't bring them. And she did, and it was fine. I'm sure your friend knows you have a baby and would probably expect you to have him with you.

I wouldn't even think twice, i'd just take baby with meet, and like someone else said, in a very short while she will understand exactly what its like.

I would see what they say... My friend allowed me to bring my 12 week old girl but I felt that she would be fine with her dad and MIL for a couple of hours so I didn't bring her in the end as I wanted to enjoy myself.

Some people seem to be fine with it, other's not...

My DD was about 8 weeks old when I went to a friends...well it wasnt a normal baby shower, more a girls afternoon with pampering for the mother to be! I didnt think twice about taking her along and she slept in the cot there.

Some i have been to allow kids some dont.

I guess it probably helps to find out if there are going to be other babies/children at the baby shower . A question... I have been invited to a baby shower and am not sure whether to take my 8 week old son. I can't get hold of the host to ask, and the location is the pregnant friend's house.
