On the top we had a cotton aircell blanket (they breath well). I only used the blanket if it was cool. We never used a quilt. I personally think a woollen or cotton blanket is safer. Best to avoid polafleece blankets too, as they don't breath well and baby can overheat.<br /><br /> When baby was small I swaddled her in muslin wrap and moved to a bag (gogo or grobag), when she moved to her cot and started rolling. They are definately a good investment, but I wouldn't use one on a NB (although I know people who have)<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by kabe</span>]]>

They're so easy and can be used from newborn.  <br />Before moving into his bag DS wore a short or long sleeved cotton bodysuit, merino gown, cotton swaddle, had a sheet and/or a merino blanket depending on the temperature.<br /><br />ETA:  Check out the table a little bit down the page here - http://www.merinokids.co.nz/FAQ.html<br />It details what to wear under the Go Go bag depending on the temperature. Some cold nights I put another blanket on him. <br /><br />Now he sleeps in a short onsie and his cotton wrap, and I usually pop his light cotton sleeping bag on if he wakes up in the middle of the night as it's a bit cooler then.]]>
