I also lost an ovary when I was 18 - so my experience/method of TTC may seem OTT - but I only had half the chance (every other month) - haha

We started TTC #1 in September after coming of BC.
I started taking Elevit at that time too. By October I was using Fertility Friend and was charting. I also bought the book 'Taking charge of your fertility' which helped with understanding how things work too. Outside of the charting etc we kept it fun and didn't think too much about it.

Long story short on 27 Decenber we discovered we're pregnant. Yay!

It wouldn't have happened for us without the book and fertility friend.......(the charting definitely helps - particularly after BC).
Here's a copy of my chart at FF http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/Missfreckles

Good luck and have fun! It will be an exciting 2011 for you both.

I also suggest charting, if you aren't worried that it'll take the magic away from it all.

Hubby and I tried for a year and 7 months when we got pg the first time, and then m/c-ed. Started charting after that, got pg again after trying for a total of 2 years and 4 months, but m/c-ed again. I now know that I don't always ovulate, which would have been good to know much earlier on in the piece! So if you do have problems - fingers crossed that you wont have any!! - then you have all the records since you started trying. I truly wish I had charted from day one.

Also, ask your folks and Hubby's folks if they had problems regarding conceiving or miscarriages.

Good luck!

ETA: fertilityfriend is good for charting! I highly recommend it.

Edited by kelzie_rose

We kind of started TTC about 3mths ago. I went to the Dr and just asked her what she thought, she sent me for bloods to check Rubella and iron levels, and gave me folic acid and iodine to take and told me to enjoy it! Pretty good advice I thought :)

Take folic acid and go for gold! If it's not happening after a few cycles you might want to think about charting or using ovulation tests.

Good luck!

You have a few options really. You can just leave it up to nature for a few months and see what happens or you could start charting your cycles and taking your waking temp to help pinpoint your most fertile days.

The book 'Taking charge of your fertility"' by Toni Weschlur is a fantastic resource.

Fertility Friend.com has some really good info as well as Ovusoft.com.

Good luck again and really hope it happens quick for you.

You can either get this on a script from the Dr or look at other options at the pharmacy. Some of us take Elevit (its $70 for 100tabs online) this has everything you could possibly need and is only 1 pill once a day.

There are quite a few topics on here that will suit you guys, the TTC and under 30 is a good one :) Everyone is super helpful.

All the best for your journey - and its good having a group of people to share the ups and downs with!

I'm a newbie here. Hubby and I are going to start TTC at the end of Dec after the next packet of BCP. We have been married 9 months, I'm 23, DH is 24. I don't really have any clue of what I should do before TTC. Do I need to see a GP? Or should I just start taking Folic Acid now and that's all I need to do until we get pregnant?? I feel like I know nothing!! lol. I'm really excited to find such a great forum to share all the ups and downs or TTC, Pregnancy and Kids!! We are both really excited about the thought of starting our family, however I know it's not always easy to get preggy and I don't want to get my hopes up too quickly. Thanks in advance!! Looking forward to getting to know everyone online!
