I am just about to post one re: the night feeds :-)

My wee man feeds at 7am, 11am, 2.30pm, and 5pm ish (with a bottle at 7pm), BUT he used to take both sides for every feed, but now at 8 months is only taking one side (so I guess getting half?). He is also waking once or twice to feed so I wondered whether he was getting too much at night??? Dilemmas!

Nice to know I am not alone though

    Author: kmarie
Subject: 36366
Posted: 22 October 2010 at 9:59pm

That sounds perfectly fine to me Nicole - I think by about 8/9mths Bethany was feeding 4x in total throughout the day - pre-breakfast (7ish), m/tea (11ish), a/tea (3ish), before bed (7ish) and no night feeds (we offered water if she woke from about 5/6mths because she was a terrible sleeper and started feeding properly at night but not during the day, so that was the only way to train her differently! I demand-fed her during the day and she loved her solids so I knew she was 'fueled up' enough to cope overnight). As long as you think she's getting what she needs when she needs it (and I'm sure she is!) then it's all good :) If you're concerned that she's having more milk overnight than during the day then that might be worth looking into - but on the other hand, if it doesn't worry you then 'don't fix what's not broken'! ;-)

Oh and if I remember rightly, it's often about now that the switch from milk first to solids first becomes more obvious in their appetites.

Edited to make sense :P

Edited by kmarie

Lily isn't really interested in her day time feeds (esp since we started solids) but since the start of this week she's gone from feeding about 3 hourly during the day to once in the morning and once in the afternoon and then once before bed... So about 10am, 3pm, 8pm... She still wakes about 2-3 times over night.

Before she would feed at about 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm... Then her 2-3 times over night.
