I tried the pram, porta cot and a bouncer and they all seemed to work well! Jude slept sometimes in his Mocka Bouncer which can lie flat. Jude was also quite long early on but has now averaged out. Could be an option? We had a similar prob with our first - do you have a pram you could put DS into during the day? Or could you borrow one? We borrowed one from our SIL, it was a perfect solution for us till Bethany was a bit older :) I've heard of some people doing the same with a hammock in the main living area. I imagine even a portacot or a carrycot/cocoon (from a phil & teds or mountain buggy) might work if he still fits. We can't hear DS from his upstairs bedroom during the day either (he went from the bassinet to the cot at 8 weeks because it started to feel a bit small - boy do they look small in the cot ). We got a moses basket for our wee one well before he was born and thought that it would last until he was 3-4 months old. We didn't anticipate having a reeeaaally long baby and at 6 weeks is almost outgrowing it!

We do have a cot, but our home is more than a little awkward- he is in the basket in the cot at night but its quite far from where we spend our days. I suppose i'm a little uncomfortable putting him down in the cot during the day and either having to spend my day upstairs or worrying needlessly (can you tell he is my first? )
