We had a really expsensive bag for ds (it was dh's idea ) and it was amazing. There were seperate areas for lots of things so I always new were stuff was (keys and wallet in one pouch, nappy bags and sanitiser in another, wipes in one are, nappies in another, etc etc). The bag got a big hammering!

Now I just use an over sized shoulder bag, but I will consider making myself a nappy bag with seperate compartments in a few weeks time ( I think).

I was given a nappy bag when DS was born and loved it the first month or so it had an insulated bottle bit where I kept a water for BFing but now I just chuck a few things in my handbag UNLESS we're going to be out all day/night.
BUT
I use my old school bag when I have him in the moby

I use a macpac backpack, its great! Not too big, and easy to throw on your back when carrying a baby round
Also it's great cos DH will carry it if needed. It fits nicely in the package tray under the buggy, and if I end up getting a few things in there (say if I go to the supermarket) or something I can throw it on my back, or extend the shoulder straps and dangle it over the handle

I bought a cheap nappy back pack from Farmers and it has been one of my most used things. Even now my Daughter is 3 years old, I still find it handy for the two insulated side pockets (for a drink and snacks) and the main bag for a change of clothes, etc. Easy to carry around in backpack format too. Been looking at getting one of these for myself keeps everything you need in one place and turn any bag into a nappy bag. Not that I have that many bags.

I've got that one (the older model) and it's great. I used it all the time when Dan was little. Now I just use a handbag but that's cos I barely have to carry anything. Yup any bag will do and if it's the insulated pockets you're after, you can get insulated bags/pouches from any baby store! In a word No its not a necessity, any old bag that's big enough to carry everything will work fine.
I prefer a back pack myself as then my hands are free and its easy to carry if I go out without the buggy.

An oversized hand bag is more than adequate, I've had an oi oi bag and it was a waste of money IMO. Hi all,

I'm considering getting a nappy bag...looking at the Babymel Amanda.
Has anyone got this bag? What do you think of it?

In general, did you use your nappy bag or would any handbag do?

All the bags specifically made for nappy bags seem to be very expensive.

Any feedback would be appreciated! TIA.
