Take the cat outside into the garden (or whereever you want him to "go") and use a wet/damp cloth to stroke the cat just above their tail. Apparently this is what their mother does to show them where to use the toilet. We've done this with past kittens and it worked well.

I also suggest moving the litter box really gradually. Try emptying his box in the garden where you would like him to go. take the kitten outside & 'dig' his paws through the dirt (make sure the litter you put out has been used by him), he will pull away but just do it 2-3 times, repeat morning & night, i've managed to get my cats being able to go all night without a box inside, just takes time :)

Hi there
Just wondering if anyone had any great ideas to help us with our kitten! We have recently installed a cat door so are trying to wean him off his kitty litter box. We have moved the box down by where the door is and he seems to know where it is as he uses it sometimes. However he is at least once a day soiling the carpet where the kitty litter box once stood.
