Nearly, just not quite<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">  I don't do the whole side down and then put it up as half the time I put him down asleep or nearly asleep so don't want to wake him if I bang it around.  <br /><br />I did the nose test and sitting the top was at his forehead so maybe it's a high cot :)<br /><br />T-Rex - I think I was imagining that you didn't need to lower it till they were likely to think about jumping over it, but I guess not.<br /><br />We lowered it yesterday and it wasn't as hard as I thought, less harder than when we lifted the side, though I nearly dropped him the last little bit the first time <span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by chelle</span>]]>

I put it down around 5 months I think, as soon as DD could sit up. <br /><br />I'm 1.67m and it was an adjustment having to bend the extra bit lower, but it wasn't hard, just different. After a week or two, I didn't even think about it.<br /><br />Sometimes I settle her with the side down and put it up once she's asleep, or sometimes I just reach through the bars if I need to. Mostly I still rock her to sleep on my lap though and put her in asleep.]]>

I also like to give him a kiss before leaving the room so feel sad that I won't be able to reach.  When we looked for cots we delliberately chose one that was not super high but obviously we are still short arses compared to the cot makers!  <br />Also find it hard to put DS in his portacot tho and that is super low to the ground so assume it is just the angles more than anything (angles between the bottom and the sides I mean)]]>

To start with we kept the side down but as soon as he started crawling we put the side up and leave it up.  <br /><br />He stands sometimes but the side is up to his chest, so I was thinking that's ok but what do you think?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Is it safe?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />I find it difficult to lower him in already and DH has made me a step to help with that, so if it's lower I'm guessing it's going to be harder (which is why we haven't lowered it yet) - but obviously safety comes first!]]>
