aparently spraying bleach around (eg on tops of fences) stops them as the ammonia smells like another cat.

We don't own any cats and don't mind them BUT there is a stray (although I don't think it's really a stray) that keeps coming and doing his/her business on our property. I would recommend the hose as well.

Catching them and drenching them is quite mean (even if it doesn't kill them)!

It's just one of the things about cats (their independence and not being able to be controlled as a dog) that you do have to live with unless you find a natural detergent that's harmless to keep them away.

How about getting a waterpistol from the $2 shop so you can just spray from the window?

We've got cats coming into our highly fenced property which is extremely annoying because we have a greyhound and he has gruesomely killed two neighbouring cats that entered our property..... So we're always sending the boxer out first to 'clear' the section and then let the greyhound out.

I have 2 cats, and we still get this dumb ginger cat hanging around, they are always fighting... i have always wanted to get a cage to catch it in and then just drench it with the hose, very mean, but i hear that it works and keeps them away, like kebakat said

Oooooooooh some good ideas here ladies! The woman who lives next door has 5 ginger cats! I HATE them with a passion. They are always crapping in our front garden and digging the plants out. And they sit on top of the fence and taunt my dog (who tries his best to eat them but can't quite jump high enough dammit! lol). Horrible dirty creatures. YUCK! Old tea bags soaked in Citronella oil will repel the cats, doesn't wash away in the rain & will keep away mosquitoes too. If you want to use something a little more "friendly" than moth balls - cayenne pepper in the garden works for stopping them poo-ing, or plastic bags tied to sticks - they dont like the noise.

The 2nd cat is new today. The 1st cat has been hanging around for ages annoying me. It sh*ts in my garden as well which is what pisses me off more than the cat being around.

We have a rental & it's their cat. So has only been here as long as them. Have a hose ready and turn it on full at them. My grandad use to use a humane trap, catch annoying catsand totally drench them with the hose and let them go. I have this cat (not ours) that likes my front yard, that is fine except it leaves foot prints on my car.

BUT now today I notice a second cat stalking the first cat. They were about to fight today before I scared them off. Then the second cat came back, couldnt see the first one & the 2nd cat went under my car so I set my car alarm off & as it ran off it pissed YUCK!!

So how do I get rid of them without getting a cat for ourselves. We live on a busy road.

I'm thinking some not so humane ways but that's cause I'm angry with them.
