The bigger stuff I put on a delicate cycle in the machine. I just put all our woolens in the washing machine on a wool cycle or delicate cycle if you don't have a wool cycle and use wool wash from the supermarket.

 

Haha I remember the ironing part. I washed and ironed everything, for the first and only time!

I used to put them in a pillowcase in a regular wash in the washing machine. Normally they aren't too messy and just need a freshen up which this is good for. If it is a messy item then I would handwash, put in the pillowcase and spin to dry and then hang or lie flat. I find if you put them in a handwash or woollens cycle you need to do one at a time or they get or fluffy. I handwashed them all before baby was born. After due to lack of time and sleep it became the pillowcase routine.

ETA this was for hand knitted woollens. For the merino I would just do what it says on the tag and same for the blankets if they are commercial ones. By regular wash I mean in with all the other clothes of the same colour.

We've been given a couple of wool baby blankets and have two merino sleepgowns, just wondering what the best way is to wash these?

Using those lux flakes my mum had when we were little? (if they're still making them)
By hand?
Or is the washing machine good enough?
