I have a Tait Isla Elisabeth, or TIE, but fell in love with it so decided I didn't care! (Though she might mind if she marries someone with a D surname). Irish boy suggestions- Orrin, Renton, Brannock, Ruaridh (pronounced Rory), & I'll post more when I remember! We got 2 of our dds names (Eliot & Tait) from a Celtic genealogy book that had lists of surnames (incl gaelic & norse). I've always loved Wyatt but our surname starts with W so it was a no go! Lol Lisa that's funny, Lily's initials is Lams like lamb without the b. I knew it when I picked her name and EVERYONE pointed it out but I just love her whole name so too bad! I could have swapped her middle names which are Anne and Maria but I thought Maria Anne sounded a bit off. I know CPR isn't insulting but kids can be cruel so I want to rule out any possible form of harrassment as I can lol I know, I know, kids will always find SOMETHING to hassle other kids about. Isla was going to be Olivia Grace Richardson but I was worried that OGR was too close to Ogre lol I think too much!

liza I wouldn't worry too much about 'CPR'. If it's not insulting then it's ok in my books.

Eimears initials (without second name) are ET (EMT with) and Aoifes (with second name) are ACT

For my DDs, the second name won't be used too much anyway so I picked family names.

I have no documentation that has my second name. In fact other than the health system here I go only by a shortened version of my birth name.

We did think of coordinating their initials to be KIT , KAT or TIT for TAT

Riley is one of my all time fav boys names but DF's last name starts with R and I don't like alliteration (i think that is the correct term for it) in names so it rules that out! If we have a boy next time, DF wants the middle name to be Patrick after his first name but with Conor as the first name, his initials would end up being CPR and I just couldn't do that lol which is why we desided on Joseph for middle name instead.
I think having Callum and Conor is fine. Isn't it funny how a couple of days can change things .... DH and I were talking names again last night and here are some of "his" suggestions -

Keagan
Keiran
Travis
Riley

HELLO I have suggested all of those over the past 4 weeks and he turned them all down! I seem to recall the same thing happening when we chose Callum - I suggested it, he said no ("isn't he a character in that book you're reading?") and then two weeks later he thought he came up with the idea

My son is Conor. I was adamant at the time that he would only have one 'N' because when he was born was when NZ won against Dennis Connor in the America's Cup (of course I got lots of smart arse comments anyways)...

Thanks for correcting me on the spelling of Tadhg! lol I knew it had a 'gh' in it but always get it wrong. Had a feeling it had a weird letter in the middle too but couldn't think what it was so I kind of just guessed lol
I completely forgot about the name Emmet.... that is my brother in laws name.
I also used to flat with an Irish guy... his name was Donnchadh (Don-a-ca) which I thought was cool.
Daire is another of my DF's friends names.
Another Irish name I like is Fergus (or Fearghas in Irish)

Thanks ladies for your comments about the name Conor Joseph I think it's a nice name too, and can be shortened to CJ if he chooses too (just have to pray we have a boy next time round so I can use it!). I'm happy for anyone else to use the name to

I dont want to break the new OB rules but if you google (.co.uk) Irish Name Pronounciation the first site that comes up allows you to listen to the names you chose so you can see their Irish spelling, phonetic English and listen to the pronounciation - handy I thought!

Finlay and Quinlan are nice and both can be shortened, Riley, Ronan, Emmet are all on that site too, Brendan (Breandan) is the patron saint of seafarers and travellers and the name of 17 other Irish saints, could be a good option as not tricky to pronounce!!

Tyler was going to be Ryan , then we changed our mind, but we still love the name ,so if this baby is a boy , he will be Ryan ....I think if you love the name enough , its fine .

My DF is Irish so here is a list of all his male Irish friends/family names (some of them aren't overly Irish)....
Patrick (DF's name - also his Dad's name)
Joseph (DF's & his Dad's middle name)
Alan, Simon, Brian, Eion, Ronan, Rory, Ben, Paul, Sean, Tiagh (think that's how it's spelt - pronounced like Tiger but without the 'r'), Jack, Max, Eamon, Aidan, Liam..... that's all I can think of for now.
We have an Irish name picked out if our next one is a boy. He will be Conor Joseph

I know what you mean kiwisj but when there are so few to choose from meh, go with it! DD is Hollie & was going to be Elizabeth for a long time, the next one will probably be Elizabeth.

How about Jack? I think we're set on Jack at the moment, we're not sold on it but there's nothing that has topped it yet. We wanted Thomas for sentimental reasons and because it's DH's middle name, but thats been taken, so will probably go Jack Thomas, .....then the initals will match DH's.

Conor was our second choice when C was born - if he'd come out with dark hair then that would have been my pick I think. It's still on this list for this time too.

My maiden name would NOT be a good name for a child (it was enough of a curse as a surname!) but I do like the idea and wish my maiden name was something normal so we could do that!

Top of my personal list is actually Daniel. But DH thinks I like it because of Dan Carter and won't let me name our baby after my celebrity crush Also I have a (close) cousin Daniel so not ideal, but I would do it anyway if DH would agree!

Keiran I think it's spelt Cairen or Ciaren in Irish (correct me someone if I am wrong!)

HELP!!!

DH and I are at a bit of a dead end when it comes to choosing a name for our baby boy. We both like fairly "traditional" or not-so-out-there names and I'd like the name to be two or more syllables to go with our one syllable surname. Our surname begins with B and I think B names sound a bit funny with it too

I'd quite like an Irish or Celtic name, I know that generally rules out "traditional" or easy names but I wouldn't mind if I really loved the name. I just haven't found one I love yet!

Complicating matters is the fact that between DH and I we have something like 40 first cousins/brothers/nephews/uncles and THEY all have nice, safe names like Michael, Ben, Alex, James, Daniel, William, Matthew .... etc etc.

Both my Dad and FIL are John so we're fairly settled on that as a second name at the moment.

AND Callum's name is the same first initial as SILs DS1 which we didn't think was an issue but has turned out the grandparents/great grandparents/great aunts on DHs side of the family are forever calling the two boys the other one's name IYGWIM! So for that reason we don't really want a name beginning with C or E (nephew2) either!!
