We use bonjela (no real trick, just shove my finger to the back of his mouth as quick as I can!) at night and pamol if I think he's really bad. C wears a teething necklace all the time but not sure how much it's helping as he hasn't really taken it off IYGWIM!

We also have a homeopathic teething powder - Nelson's Teetha from the UK. It contains chamomilla .. argh and lactose, starch and xylitol apparently so perhaps not a good option if you're avoiding dairy. Umm with the bonjela I stick another finger in then quickly get it on her gum if that makes sense...

Also second the cold flannel, or ice... Naturopharm teething spray here too DS also opens his mouth when he sees the bottle. We use an amber necklace too.

I can't work out how to use bonjela, is there a trick? I assumed it would be completely simple but every time he's licked it off before I've had a chance to get it near his gums! Seems to like it

So far apart from terrible sleep, he hasn't seemed too upset though, just a couple of times on the day they came through briefly and a quick spritz with the spray seemed to do the trick. I hear the top ones are worse, so I guess that will be the real test if these things are working for us.

Naturopharm Teethmed is AWESOME, Jess and Tara Ruby used to open her mouth too

That and a facecloth that's wetish and put in the freezer for a while helps too

We use the Naturopharm teethmed spray, it seems to work really well with DS. He hasn't got any teeth yet, but has had periods where they were clearly bothering him and a couple of sprays now and then certainly calmed him. Reading and running here - Naturo PharmTeethmed Relief spray is awesome. We use it with DD and although it's quite expensive (about $20) the bottle lasts for ages. Just do 2 sprays in the mouth. Yeah, apparently the boy in the UK his parents gave him far too much, my PN was telling us at the 5 month check.

I just looked up about the bonjela and the teething gel is fine and it has been declared safe to use in nz. Just use the recommended dosage.

Mum2ET - yeah i think the tablets are helping Caide, he isn't teething too bad yet but they are moving round and we haven't had too many upset days or nights with him. I think Tom has started teething as well....with Ella I tried bonjela, weleda teething powder and a spray but nothing apart from pamol seemed to ease the pain for her (luckily she loves the stuff); so I wanted to see if there was anything else on the market.

The weleda powder is in a lactose base - so probably not the best if you are avoiding dairy.

I wouldn't use bonjela - there was a thing on Campbell live about it about a year ago. I think from memory that a baby died (in Britain?) from using it.

Naturopharm do a teething spray which we use. My DS is having a tough time with it on occasions too. I have found an ice cube in his mesh feeder thing has worked a treat. It is a temporary solution but it keeps him happy for a little while.

We also have used a teething necklace, teething toys, bonjela & pamol.

ETA - oops just saw you needed relief for sleep - we use Bonjela alot these days just before bedtime at night and it seems to do the trick.

we used good old bonjela in our house... and pamol of course... weleda do a teething powder and ther are also drops you can get too.

I'm using New Era Teething Tablets for DS - you get them from the health shop. Just dissolve 2 on the tongue at feeding time 3 times a day or when the pain is really pain you give 2 dissolved in warm water every 15 mins.

Can anyone recommend a good product for teething relief? My girl is having a pretty unpleasant time with her teeth at the moment and its terrible timing with her starting daycare so I'd like to see if I can ease the pain a bit so she can sleep
