Grace is doing great, she's a bum shuffler!!!!Friends think taht it's cute that she skoots around on her bum, but she's wearing the bum out of all her pants quick as. She's got 4 teeth and can say Mum, Dad, Nan, Nup for no and when you call her she says wha which we think is short for what. Nearly swapped bottles for a cup and love her food. Not doing anything for her birthday as all family are too far away, but will have a cake and stuff on the 7th October the day after our wedding, as everyone will be here, we will have a cake on her actual birthday 8th Aug for our two older gils benefit.
Well Happy 1st birthday to all our not so little bundles of joy. catch you all soon

    Author: caraMel
Subject: 3479
Posted: 23 July 2007 at 10:07am

Awwww, our babies are not babies anymore!
I can't believe nearly a whole year has passed since we were queuing up to have our little ones, it just doesn't seem that long!

Lovely pics Rach, Kayla looks like such a happy wee girl!
You and Deb must have had a fantastic time catching up in person. Jealous!!

Kel its great to hear how well Blake is doing now! Mothercraft sounds like a fantastic place. I wish there was something like that here in Auckland, it would have made things so much better for me 5 months ago!

Good to see you too Chonni! Are you trying again? Woohoo, more babies!

Benjy is doing wonderfully. He got up and walked about a month ago and is now running everywhere.
He has 3 teeth and is slowly working on his 4th.
He eats like a horse, probably more than Ella does actually, and has weaned himself down to just 1 breastfeed a day. (Bit sad about that, but I'm glad we've managed to do it for this long!)
He is a gorgeous placid little guy. Just sits back and takes everything in, doesn't really make much of a fuss about things unless he wants food, or he's got himself stuck somewhere or Ella is hurting him.
He's also very determined, when he wants something he will try and try and try until he gets it. Very much like his Daddy I think!
Oh and he is mostly sleeping through the night too, WOOHOO!
Hope all you other Mummies are well, ((((HUGS)))) to you and your bubbies!

We are finally in new house after moving out into a motel while they fixed all their 'mistakes" up!
Blake is an awesome little guy.We all love him to bits. He is so happy and loves people and smiles all day long :o) Crawling around and has 6 teeth. He eats 3 huge meals with loads of fingers foods and three b/feeds. Since going over to Mothercraft unit he has been a breeze. They were so good and I highly recommend them to anyone having sleeping/feeding issues at this age. It was so simple to sort out and now he goes to bed at 6:30 ..wakes at 6:30 - 7ish and has two 1.5 hour sleeps during the day. Great stuff :o)

Anyhow..would love to see some pics....

I have been puddling around on Bebo so have a website page thingy up.....Check it out ;o)

Hope you are all well.

Kel XX

For us the dreamfeed was the key.

If you decide to stop feeding the first few nights will be really hard. You basically stay with them while they cry (or use controlled crying if you are comfortable with it) until they fall asleep. For most it takes a few nights before they see improvement, at worst it usually takes about 14 nights. If they are used to being fed, that is what they will expect and hence they won't be pleased when the game changes. There are some babies that need food at night at this age but for many it is simply a learned habit...I wake, I cry, Mummy feeds me...

If they are used to taking lots of calories at night it will take them a few days to readjust to taking those calories through the day. That is why some people who do multiple feeds decide to drop one feed at at time...that way the baby gradually takes more during the day.

My girl was born 26 Aug. From 6 months night wakings can increase for a load of reasons. We ended up reintroducing a dreamfeed as our girl was getting bad at night too. Since doing that over 2 weeks ago she's slept through every night. They are also pretty clever so if you'r still feeding them at night chances are they will want that everytime they wake so it is quite good to stop feeding if night wakings are a problem for you. Once they are not getting fed at night they do tend to learn to resettle themselves more often than not (although teething, milestones etc still cause problems)!!

It must be so hard going back to hourly wakeups after getting back into decent sleep habits!
Could it be related to separation anxiety? That usually peaks around the 8 month mark. Are you finding she's any more clingy during the day than usual?
When I stopped feeding Benjy at night I knew he was just waking for comfort feeds because he'd only feed for a couple of minutes max, and then go back off to sleep.
I just stopped feeding him and would cuddle him in the feeding position until he was drowsy then tuck him back up instead.
Once he got the hang of not feeding, we started using controlled crying to teach him to self settle.
It took about a week of this before he started sleeping longer again but now he's sleeping through almost every night.
That worked for us, but however you decide to go just remember to be consistent for at least 3 days as sometimes they get a little worse initially when you change the usual habits.
Good luck hun, I hope you get some decent sleep soon!
I'm looking forward to it too, want to make up a little bit for last year, as I was too pregnant and tired to make much of a fuss of it
Hooray for being in your new house Kelly! It must be a relief to know you're settled there and no more moving (or building!) for a while huh?
I hope Blake starts sleeping better for you soon, it must be so exhausting after nearly 8 months of broken sleep.
Deb, I can definitely reccomend the Mirena. I had 3 months of spotting on and off when it was first put in, and since then absolutely nothing. no periods, no cramping and best of all, no pms!!
Benjy loves babbling, he says 'Dadda', 'Ella' and.... 'BUM!' I've told him he is not to learn anyone else's name before he learns 'Mumma'
Separation anxiety has kicked back in a bit, and he hates to be left alone if I need to cook or go to the loo or anything GAAAH! I am loving how snuggly it makes him with me though!
Well, better go do some more washing before the predicted thunderstorms hit!
Hope you all have a safe and happy Easter weekend ((hugs))

Mel
He is crawling (getting quite fast), he is pulling himself to standing and walking around the coffe tables, our legs, chairs etc, etc so we are having a few bumps but getting better. He is eating 3 solid meals a day and is having about 4-5 formula bottles. He is sleeping through the night but sometimes still wakes at 1 or 3. He has two bottom teeth and is teething again so I think his top ones are on the move.

He is just a little angel.

Sorry I didn't have time to catch up on what everyone else is doing because I would be reading from about page 28.

I will keep update now.

Hope everyone is good.

I keep putting it off because I don't have enough time to write a decent post!
I hope you and your bubbas are all doing well. Can you believe its been 7 months?!?! (OMG nearly 8 for Benjy!)
My boy is SO BIG! Ella stayed so little for so long that it seems odd to me having an average sized one! I weighed Benjy here at home a week ago and he is 9 kilos, he's also really long and really really strong.
He seems to have got the hang of sleeping through the night. I'm so grateful for that, it took Ella a lot longer!
He's also pulling himself up on furniture and cruising around it. We've had lots of bumps and bruises as a result, but he's a tough wee guy and doesn't let it slow him down at all
How much are your babies eating now? Ben is having 3 solid meals a day and 4-5 breastfeeds (plus little nibbles of whatever we're having). I'm wondering if I should start trying to cut down the b/f a little now?
Ella just loves that Ben can follow her around and 'play' with her now. He thinks she's great and wants to be involved in whatever she is up to. She can be pretty rough with him at times, but he's nearly as big as her now and I don't think it will be long before he can hold his own against her!
I'm slowly beginning to feel like I'll eventually get the hang of this 2 kids thing! Up until recently I just kind of felt like I was just holding things together and maintaining the basics here at home, now I'm beginning to slowly get on top of things at last, and am more able to do fun stuff as well as the usual day to day. Here's hoping anyway! Have any of you felt that way at all?
Anyway, I am being summoned again!
Hope you're all enjoying your weekend,

Mel

Hmmm I am hopeless at updating this...I think it is because I SO hate using the internet out here. It is soooooo incredibly so and havlf the times cuts us off....

So quickly. Blake doing great. Gets around and is really into SQUEALING and says Bubba & Mum sort of well. Esp when his cot!!! Still trying to sort out a formula and still has not slept through altho still in bed at 6:30 but can wake twice. I dont think he is waking because hungry as has three solids now - but because he really needs to FART (OH GOD - so like his father) and sucking relaxes him which relaxes down there enough to push them out. It is a real pain - anyone got any ideas of how to fix it????

Our house is coming along - move in soon altho its a bloody mess and the paint and plasterers have done really bad jobs. Getting a bit down and depressed with lots of things at mo to do with that (wont be doing it again EVER)...BUT fortunately seeing the kids smile and Blake talk to me makes up for it big time!!!

Hope you are all doing well.....Love logging in and rading this when I get on here!

KEL XXXXX

Had a (looong) week of Mya waking 4 times a nite for feeds so have started her on baby food. Had 3 meals of it today, as well as her normal breast feeding so im soooooo hoping she sleeps well tonite! She took to it like a champ (this kid as eyes bigger then her head) and ate 1/3 of a jar at lunch! but shes so active. Crawling around everywhere and pulling herself up on everything and walking along every couch/ low shelf she can find so im not surprised shes hungry.
Also i think i have the possiblity of my choice in shifts at work next month. I work for ideas services (IHC) and we have a new home opening for teenagers and several parents are recommending me as a staff (yay for me ) so im hoping ill get 1st pick of shifts and can get early mornin and late nite shifts, so DP will get Mya up and ill head to work once shes back in bed for a few hours at nite as we too could really do with the money!
Any way hope evryone is having a good weekend, we had a picnic planned to remember DPs grandmas bday (its their 1st without her) but we got rained on! Still a lovely day with the family tho!

Might b because i have been slack at taking pill last three days? Oh well, back into the horrible thing again i guess.

Sounds like all the babies are doing great! Vincent is getting up on his knees almost, and if lifted he brings them up and starts rocking. Loves rolling to tummy, and is moving backwards and round in circles but soon gets frustrated he can't move further. Have started solids in the evenings, loves it! Sleeping still a biggy for us, but last night slept til 4.45am! YAY! meant only one feed for a change! Have decided that once he is in his own room, i will do the water thing at night, they reckon after one or two nights of this, the baby will stop waking.

Fingers crossed.

As for me, i've stuffed my wrist again so am in splint likely for the next two months. :( On th ejob fgront, still founhd nothing for mornings and thinking not going to be able to. I'm real bummed coz i know we could do with the extra money. Also, it means i may not get a new car now. Which sucks! Oh well i guess thewse things happen.

Hope everyone else ios well. SOrry haven't been on in ages, been working full time in holidays.

Must go get on with washing etc,
Hugs for all,
Chonny + Vincent

p.s. Vincent is getting a bit cling ytoo, not just wanting me, but if someone has him, and he sees or hears me, he wants me. Not pushing it as my lil bro was pushed when younger and wouldn't even go to my dad nicely. Also, tummy pain back again with solids so wondering if need to use infacol again too. Just in the evenings tho. He chats and laughs all day! Good daytime sleeper too usually

If he wakes when you put him down give him a pat or rub his back and say 'Its time to sleep, I love you' then go out of the room.
If he starts to cry wait 10 minutes and then go in, tuck him back in pat or rub but don't stay longer than a minute or so.
Keep up the 10 minute routine unless he is starting and stopping crying, apparently that means they are trying to settle themselves.
Since we started it, he's gotten better and better usually only waking once at night but last night he slept right through!
Oh, and I stopped feeding him at night at the same time as we started CC.
The 10 minutes are so looooong, but we found after the first night he was settling himself after about 5, 9 times out of 10
I don't know if that routine is right for you guys but I hope it helps or something else does! I feel your pain!!

Loved it and had a fantastic time. Did lots with Paige and Blake was a gem. Being back has been madness tho as house is trucking along and needs a lot of input now.Cant wait to move in in 8 weeks!!! YAY.

Haveing few problems with Blake. Not sure what is going on but sleeping has become a bit of a problem. He wont settle at night because he keeps rolling over everything and screams and screams - he freaks out.gets stuck. Then throws up. Im sure he would like it but just wont have a bar of it. Wedge no longer works and the Safety - Sleep I tried tonight was hopeless - he just arched like a banana and whipped over. ANY IDEAS???? He is still breastfed and still 3 hourly - Solids are few and far between - he doesnt seem to be bothered whether he has them or not???? Still having issues with wind - down low at night so have started back on infacol to see if we can get it out. All sounds horrible but he is an absolute georgeous little man and perfectly happy and thriving 90% of the time - just the "sleeping" thing and this wind problem are still GRIEF!

Hope you are all well and happy :o)
KelXX

    Author: 11111
Subject: 3479
Posted: 23 January 2007 at 7:44pm

That was surpose to be in her bag it was $80 I instanly remembered where I had left it on the counter at Max all the way back in Tawa it was too late to ring so I rang first thing the next morning and they told me I would have to ring back on Tuesday as the manager was not it till then. I was gutted the money was for my friend for petrol ect for having us stay. She was really good about it told me not to worry. So we packed the car and headed over to Bull's where Pete was coming to pick me up. Had a nice time with Grandparednt's. Then we said good bye my friend nad waited till Pete arrived. I then got a phone call from my firnd she sounded upset, but asked to talk ot another adult in the hosue so I handed the phone to Granddad who sounded worried. I then went out to play with Alan and Grandad came out to tell me my Friend had been in an accident she was fine and no one else was involved, but she knew I would freak out. Her car is totally munted turn's out it was the passanger side that got most of the impact. Anyway I was totally freaked out kinda blaming myself also going oh my gosh I nearlly lost me best firend and oh oww we could have been in that car. I cried the whole trip home. Anyway she reassured me that everyting was fine.
Back on to the money I was so determinded to get it back cause not my frien needed it more then ever. So I rang Max today and got the Manager who was very rude and told me under no circumstance was the money let there and then she hung up did not take my detail's or anything. I was so sure I hads left it there and really annoyed with the way I was treadted so decided to ring the manager of the complex explained my situation he said her would look into it. He rang me back about an hour later and said he had had a chat to her and was sure she was telling the truth and that the money was gone. He was very good about the whole thing and said if it did turn up he would give me a call. I was gutted I really wanted to be able to get that money back for my friend. Anyway again about an hour later she ahd been out doing the babking when the teller informed her she had counted wrong and was up yep you guessed it $80. So Ya I will be getting a cheque in the mail over the next fre day';s I am also hoping for an offical apology for the way I was treated my the Manager of Max. Had I taken her word for it and not rung the manager of the complex I would have never got it back cause she had no way of contacting me I am still pissed about the whole thing.
Any that was my holiday it was good, but oh my talk about stress. Sorry this is so long I needed to get it all off my chest.

Will have to search back ages to read why.

Vincent rolls from his back to tummy now. Been doing it for a week. Almost as soon on his back, he goes to tummy and tries pulling knees up. Can turn 180 degrees and slightly backwards. He really is trying to crawl and it frustrates him so much. Can roll from tummy to back, but not really doing it at the moment. Will be starting solids in a couple of weeks. as of two nights ago, the night seems to be going better. Down to only one or two settled wakes now.

Well, looking for a baby monitor on trade me so have fun ladies and talk soon.

Cute wee pics!! :)How is everyone??? I must get an updated photo. Might sort through now.

Eeek My life is still mad..cant keep up. Was in Auck for a few days UGH...cant say I will ever live there again - MADNESS!!! Love my sunny spot near the beach - bought Paige up for Cirque De Soleil - which she hated and left at half time!!! Her poor father - he has had such a bad run!

Back for a few days then off to Napier and Taypo for a wee holiday for a couple of weeks!!!

Blake is growing fast - he is over 18pounds now. Been scoffing food like its going out of fashion. Sucks on fruit and last night plonked his hand in my rice and shut it tight so I couldnt get it open. Then tried getting it in his mouth LOL Was funny.

He is rolling and rolling to get places. Stands up and never wants to sit down. So no doubt he wont crawl - just walk. Had four teeth coming through but they keep coming then going so poor thing is like a wee tap. Need a dribble tub attached to his chin.

Im still feeding him every three hours - think it will be like that forever.Nights are cool - he is done and dusted no later than 7 for the night. Wakes once sometimes twice but once in bed we dont hear from him YAY. Have started him on a Sipper cup with some prune juice as not the best pooer and think with all veges and baby rice he is having trouble getting it all out. ON Doc advice today!!(much like Paige was too).

Big HUGS XXXX

KEL

She's still wearing some size 1 stuff at 2 and a half. Plunket never really mentioned it for her either. I think as long as they still scrape onto their height and weight range charts they don't worry about it.

I'm finally starting to get better after my bout of Campylobacter. Thankfully I've been able to keep breastfeeding Benjy through it, but his routine is really out of whack now. I've just been letting him feed whenever because with not eating properly and being so run down I guessed my milk wasn't quite as filling for him. So now we are going to have to retrain him out of 2 hourly feeding and hopefully try to get him to drop a night feed at the same time. We'll see how that goes LOL.

He's now having 2 feeds of solids per day, and loving it.
I was holding off and holding off until he started getting really whingy whenever we sat down to eat. He was hilarious the other morning when I was trying to give him his fruit. Ella and I were having some marmite toast and he was mucking around, so I put him down on the floor while we ate up and he made a mad grab for Ella's toast. He was so determined to get it, much to her horror!
I gave him a munch on my piece and after that he gobbled up his fruit no worries!

Well my sister is here to help out for the day so I'll go and be sociable

Hope you are all well and enjoying some sunshine!

Mel
I went through a bit of depression and drew away from everything I was used to .....

Anyway, thanks for the christmas wishes too

Your wee people seem to be growing up so much compared to a couple of months ago.. takes no time huh? Well, charlotte is fully bottlefed now. On the 1st of Jan - must have been her resolution lol- she decided she didn't want to feed from me anymore. It felt horrid and starnge and I cried. Over that now, and she is on solids and has baby rice in the morning and vegetables at night. Well, pumpkin so far. LOL.. made her sound like a seasoned foodie she has been for about 10 days now.

She still sleeps all night, and has three 2 hour sleeps in the day. and is up for about 2 hours each time. She has 4 feeds of 240mls... Im not sure if that average? plunket seem quite hopeless really. She still has reflux.. went through so many different formulas - about 5 - to get one that only brings up a little. tried gavison too. and then we had to deal with constipation from the change in mik, and the gavison and the baby rice and thickened formula, so she has a little bit of ribena in water.

phewww...... charlotte is hard work.... but a wee cherub mainly - im her mummy so i can say that lol- shes rolling over now, and sitting supported and can sit for a wee minute or too unsupported .. time sure flies

my heart melts when she smiles at me with such love , you can see it in her eyes .....
