The irony is that he's an excellent sleeper *touch wood* and sleeps 11/12 hrs per night (straight through) so he must do some sort of self settling during the night?

I went back to rocking to sleep, which I only stopped 2 weeks ago as it was nice and easy for us, but thought it was time I started working on self settling as he's still waking in the night heaps. So we're down to patting and shushing now.

Actually, come to think of it I was feeding to sleep at the time and he'd wake a little which is when I'd rock the hammock but when we went in the cot I'd just do shushing and patting. Yup..... I've been trying the self settling and have manged to get it down to a gentle 'shuggle' rather than a full on bounce, and I only do it for up to 1min at a time and most times it only takes 1 or two attempts. It's frustrating because he's so close, but if I just left him, he'd get sooooo worked up and I just can't let him CIO.

Nina doesn't like being rocked. She smothers her left side of the face into the mattress, that's what she needs .
So we have a similar problem. I tried Nina in the cot but she just screams her head off because there's nothing going 'up the side' where she can smother her face into....

Wow Mum2H... I didn't realise Nina was in a hammock with her harness. That's pretty cool

Hummmmmm looks like I really need to work on this self settling ASAP. I'm dreading the transfer to the cot.

Can I ask those who have used hammocks..... did your baby still require to be be 'rocked' in the hammock to settle them, or did it get to a point where you could just lie them in the hammock and they'd go to sleep?

If I put Roo in a cot just now, he'd scream the house down!

We only used the hammock for day sleeps downstairs and stopped using it at 4 months. M'Moo, I'm really in denial about Nina having to move to the cot soon!
She's a bit fatter than Roo but about the same length but fits fine atm because of her harness. So she's probably only 50cm long .
Because her legs are so wide apart can't button it up anymore. Is it an option for you to save his straight legs ? I ended up switching Cooper at 4 1/2 months when he was rolling from back to tummy. He was 69cm at 5 months so probably only a little bit less than that when I transferred him. I was thinking he wouldn't have too much longer spacewise then too but I thought he was ok at the time. Hi there,

For those who used a baby hammock, what age did you transfer to a cot?

I was really hoping to get 6 months out of the hammock, but Roo's starting to look a bit squished up in it and *don't laugh* I'm worried I might deform his legs if they're restricted by the hammock.
