peanut, I hear ya on the Mum thing. Today at the shops it was all 'Mum, mum, mum where are you.'. What happened to mummy!!!

Oh I also use Ma for my Mum, particularly in texts lol.

DH's Gran does this too. Introduces herself to my friends etc as Gran

I was called Mama, which I loved, now its Mummy but he is starting to phase in Mum which upsets me slightly. I was hoping to be Mummy for a wee bit longer.

Mum and Mummy here. Probably mostly Mum these days.
DH is Daddy although it has taken a long time to get the girls to call him that, the both started calling him Mark.

I have been getting Mumma a lot these days and I just cant stand it.. I dont know why but it bugs me. I tend to ignore her until she realised and calls me mum or mummy.

I could only ever call my parents mum and dad now I am older. Sorry, "gross" was a poor choice of words

I should have said it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable (but even that doesn't describe it very well). Hehe. And I was curious about your answers so thanks!

My FIL always says Mummy and Daddy about DP and I when talking to Jude. As in "You know where your Mummy is don't you?" or something like that. Perhaps its the baby voice that does it as well..... Haha. But I didn't like "Mummy" before I had Jude, so I guess I can't blame it on FIL.

I also was surprised when I read on another message board about people calling their in-laws mum and dad. I didn't know there would be so many! In fact, it seemed as if there were more that called their in-laws mum and dad than those that called them by their first names. They must be pretty close. I call my Dad "daddy" when i want something LOL (seems to be a reoccuring theme ladies!) and I do call my Mum "mummy" when I am hurt/sick/scared and I am not feeling very grown up.

Jake calls DH Dadda and we refer to DH as Dadda or Daddy. Jake calls me mmm,mmm,mmm and very occasionally I get a mummum and we refer to me as Mummy or Mumma.

Hehe I call my Mum and Dad Mummy and Daddy, only when we are goofing around or I want something tho lol. Both my Mum and my DF refer to me as 'the Mama' when they are talking to Isla lol ie 'here comes the Mama' or 'wheres the Mama gone' hahaha. Don't know why. I'd like her to call me Mama or Mummy. Of course Mum will occur when she gets 'too old' to still be calling me mummy. Caden calls me Mumma, and DH is Dadda, he can call me what ever he likes, mum, mummy, mumma,

Oh and I sometimes calls my parents mummy and daddy lol, if Im greasing up to them or I call mum mama.
I dont see how its gross lol

I get Mum, Mummy, Mumma from DS, DH gets Daaaad but mostly Daddy!

I still call my Mum - Mummy sometimes (quite a lot), but I think its prob an english thing - it seems a lot more common over there. I have a g/f in London who still calls her Mum "Mumsy".....very posh family though....

I usually say to Cooper Mumma or Dadda He calls DH Daa. Alia used Mumma & Dadda, I think she uses both Dad & Daddy?

Prepare to be grossed/creeped out or irritated then peops cause when I'm getting along with my mum and dad I pretty much always use daddy or da and mama. My other dad gets dads. It's only when I'm actually talking directly to them but yep thats what I use.

I used to be mama, now it's mummy and sometimes mum. It makes me a bit sad though when he moves onto the next stage of being 'grown up' by using a different word!! Cracks me up - they could be talking about my own mother who may as well be deaf when she is reading a book. I'm finding myself doing the same zoning out thing when I read - DP hates it

I call my parents Mum and Dad now I'm an adult...it's a bit gross adults calling thier parents mummy and daddy lol.

To Clodagh I am Mummy or Mama. DF is Daddy usually. I thought most kids outgrew this and shortened it to Mum and Dad once they hit about 6/7?

Dad only gets called Daddy when I want something .
Mummy and Daddy was used when I was younger.
I'm happy to be called Mummy or Mum that's me of course.
Don't like Mom or Momma to much though.

I have pretty much always been mum to the kids and DH is daddy however recently I have become mumma which I am not too fond of (but don't really care and never correct them) but everyone else thinks is really cute.

What do you prefer to be called?

I far prefer Mum. Mummy and Daddy seem to irritate the hell out of me. I can tolerate very small children saying it but once they get to a certain age - say between 8-10, then I think it becomes a bit grosser. Even WORSE if it's an adult talking about their mummy or daddy. That makes me cringe. In my mind Mummy comes across as a little bit disrespectful. Jude will be taught to say Mum....

When growing up, we called our parents Mum and Dad or Mama and Papa (Maori version of Mum and Dad). I think DP used to call his mother Mummy sometimes and only did it to take the piss (and now sometimes does it to wind me up )
