Nothing extra than what the others have said - I lie her on the change table and pin her arms down and use one hand to hold it one and push the inhaler.

At 4 months she was bloody hopeless at it, but after 8 months of twice daily episodes she is better and now just likes to try and pull the inhaler out of the spacer!

Ive had to use these for both my kids, its hard work

If someone else is here, one person basicly pins them down and the other does the ventolin, if Im by myself, i just do the best I can, that usually means pinning them down with my leg and going for it.

Caden was the worst, he HATED it, he was 17 months old, and had bronchiolitis, the hospital gave us the spacer and showed us how to do it, the nurse was real rough

I definately find it easier when ds is sitting on my lap with his back to my front, then he rests his head against me. If it's a day where he doesn't want to take it, I tapped the ventolin cap on the spacer and he likes the sound and it also distracts him

I lay G down with her head between my legs (me sitting) and her legs facing away from me. I pin her arms under my legs and because her head is between my thighs she can't move it. I then press the puffer and with one hand hold the mask on her face and with the other hand I hold her chin so she can't open her mouth too wide and break the seal.

Sounds horrific but its not really as bad as it sounds. Theres only me (single parent) and I can't get G to sit still and have her ventolin any other way. Hope that helps. G goes through periods where she is fine about taking ventolin and others where she has a meltdown the minute she sees the spacer. We are going through the meltdown stage again at the moment.

i used to but james between my legs one arm round his arms and hold on for dear life its not easy but they do get better at it good luck
