Jaxnz1, you were right the straps are still a wee bit loose, so I'll leave it a few weeks yet.

I think I worked out what the problem was. His pram aversion started with the cold weather and me putting him in his snow suit instead of just swaddling him. what sort of slings are you guys using?

A decent soft structured carrier (manduca, ergo etc) is great for power walks as its so easy for them to get on your back.

When theyre on your back they can see around while still being able to regulate their stimulationtoo so help to keep them happy - and no knees getting bumped as mentioned above.

We have the same problem with the stroller sometimes especially at the mall, so I've gone back to the sling and trying him out sitting up in it on my hip, though I'm not sure I've got it quite right.

I wonder if it's separation anxiety too because it's usually partway into a walk and if I walk hunched over talking to him he's fine - just not very practical I also find the same thing in the car if we travel for more than about 10 mins or so, he's started getting upset, even though I've got a mirror that he can see me in.

Have you tried him in it? I found the 'seatbelt' in our buggy huge for DD when she was younger. It still looks too big for her as the arm straps are quite lose over her shoulders and that's even on the tightest setting. Maybe he needs to be bigger to fit him properly in there.
I would say if it says 6months+ there must be a reason.

Sorry to HJ the thread....

Just to clarify, the stroller seat does recline, so it's not like he's sat upright, it's just not a true flat surface like the bassinet. To me it doesn't look any different to MB's etc, but I'm slightly concerned as it does say 6month + I just thought that if I used it (in the fully reclined position) he'd be able to see a bit more the world when we're out and about. Well that's what I have yet to try, just me and no dog. Because the two times she's been out with me and DH we haven't had the dog with us and she was fine. Just waiting for the next fine and semi warmish day!!

I will look into carriers, but I do need to get her used to the buggy. So I think short trips will be the key and will make them longer gradually. Heh. Oh to live in a world where babies sleep! My new strategy is going to be to try and take her out as soon as she's awake and fed, rather than waiting until it's time she was asleep, because she no longer falls asleep in it, nor does she stay asleep if I put her in it asleep, so rather than taking out a tired cranky baby, I'll try an awake one. I quite enjoy running with the buggy that I have. I live rurally, so have to go out in the day as there are no streetlights so I can't go without DD.

I've had some success with a similar problem in the carseat by adding in new toys. Could you tie a balloon to the buggy maybe? Or start with short trips out?

But I do support the idea of a decent sling for most trips out - it's way easier than negotiating shops with a pram.

ETA. Does she cry if its just you and no dog?

I am 5''3 and DS weighs in @ nearly 10 kg ( he's 5 months)and I carry him everywhere .
I have a Patapum and can have him front and back and its comfy. At the risk of sounding equally as rabid as weegee, if not more - if you find it uncomfortable or difficult to wear her then you haven't got the right sling / carrier.

As for running, if I were in your shoes I'd probably wait until she's asleep. I can't say I've been a fan of running while pushing a buggy though.

I actually ended up selling my flash new P&T because it was being used so rarely I figured it would be better off with someone else - if my daughter is not in arms or busy crawling around, she is in a sling or wrap. They are IMO worth every cent you might spend on a decent quality one as much as you would on a buggy.

Some babies just like to literally be on / with their mamas. Hope you find a solution that works for you

Milliemoo until they have good head control they need to be lying flat, like the reclined carseats. I would wear her, but she is really heavy and I'm 5 foot nothing and really struggle to carry her round.
I have her sitting right up so she can see everything. I've tried her in every position possible and she still hates it. I really want her to get used to it because she'll need to go in it everywhere we go now eg shopping. I suppose it's just regular small trips I need to do......hmm maybe I could attach a mirror so she can see me

Milliemoo, I would say it's 6 months + because they don't have much head control until then. You can get newborn supports though which could be worth a try. I'm having a bit of a problem with my wee bubba at the moment too. Kinda the opposite though... I think his dislike of the pram is because he's too curious. I really want to try him with the stroller attachment (he's in the bassinet just now) so he's got more things to look at, but it say's 6months +

I chuck Lily in the front pack but now that she is more alert she likes to look out rather than in! Agreed, and I do this round town - but what about when you want to go for a run?

Does she continue screaming the whole time?

Lily does this in our P&T but in the capsule of our Milano is fine. She only screams for about 2-3 mins then stops. Talking sometimes helps. She also likes to be semi reclined so sh can see out but also nap if need be.

My DD has all of a sudden started hating her buggy. She used to be fine in it (although that's when she was young and only really slept in it). Now, when I get 10 metres down the road she starts screaming.
Has anyone's baby done this and what did you do to reassure them?
I've tried giving her toys, propping her right up, giving her a rusk, talking to her etc etc.
On three occassions when it's been just me and DH walking and without the dog, she's been fine. When it's me on my own and we have the dog she screams.
