same we got one for $150 - it's brilliant! and old F&P one and we never noticed any real diff with power use... We've been looking at getting one for a while too, but have to alter our walk in pantry for space. We have a FnP one too and its awesome. Bought it second hand last year and its probably about 6 years old now. When we first got it we didnt notice any major change to our power bill (216ltr), and dont now either for that matter.

Its been the best investment for being able to bulk buy and being able to freeze meals etc, but I must admit, it is bit of a pain trying to dig to the bottom. I've got no idea on brands or anything either, but we were looking in Harvey Norman a little while a go and they had this very cool one that was a normal chest bit at the top but had a drawer in the bottom, would be fantastic for getting to everything. We have a chest freezer - can't tell you much about it sorry as ive got no clue really.

The one thing i will say is that I wish we had gotten an upright freezer. It is way easier to organise things and you can actually get to everything without having to pull heaps of stuff out. Also the bending into it gets quite hard on the back and especially bad when pregnant.

I think some chest ones use more power than others. We looked quite closely at that sort of thing. i have decided that in order to do a proper montly shop and save money i am going to invest in a chest freezer.

I dont know much about them though. so am wondering if any one has any info. are they all pretty much of a muchness or is there a brand that would stand out?
