They are usually just exploring by putting things in their mouth. Although in saying that I remember wondering the same thing with my DS1 when he was three months old and then his two bottom front teeth appeared a week later.

So teething is a possibility. It's early, but definitely not too uncommon.

Also, holding a teething toy in his mouth for him to have a good chew. Also, I got a teething necklace for him and that seems to help too.

I've been putting some bepanthen on his rash/excema now and again and that seems to help that side of things.

Daniel did it. i was sure it was teething but it wasnt, he didn't get teeth for another 6 months! Its normal for them to chew and suck on their fists, toys, anything within reach.

The eczema is probably from the drool. Daniel got it on his cheeks and chin from all the drool

Its a bit difficult when they start getting sore gums before they are old enough to hold onto a teething toy properly, but you could try those ones that you can put in the fridge and help him hold it? Hopefully it will ease - it can go on and off for ages...

    Author: 1st_Time_Preggies
Subject: 33300
Posted: 08 May 2010 at 3:59pm

My son has just turned 3 months and had his vaccinations a few days ago. He has also started rolling from his back to front as of last week!

After a sleep he gets up and feeds, and is happy enough. I change his nappy and then he gets some play time on his mat. This last week I have noticed that he gets increasingly annoyed/grizzly VERY quickly during his playtime. This is when he is on his front or back. He is constantly trying to put his fist into his mouth, is dribbling and has developed eczema around his neck (not sure if it is related?). He also likes it when I put my finger in his mouth and bites down quite hard with his gums.

Could he be teething this early??? Or is there some other explanation for this behaviour?

If it is, can I do anything to make him feel better??
