We are wrapping her backwards so that she can still get at her hands if she wants. She prefers this to normal wrapping. We will start weaning her from this by doing the arms out one at a time. It shouldn't be as hard as weaning her from normal wrapping as she isn't tightly wrapped.

Last night decided to go cold turkey and not wrap at all, he's in a go go bag so it was bulky to wrap him, was only wrapping arms at night. he looked uncomfortable, so last night no wrap!.
His hands were freezing but he only woke twice which is really good. So will do that again tonight.

Tried to not wrap him for day sleeps today but he just doesn't know what to do with his arms/hands!

it is cute he's looking at them and waving them around. So wrapped one arm and he fell asleep.

So i think i will:
Wrap one arm for day sleeps
not wrap at night but always put him in his go go bag.

thanks guys you helped me decide what to do

DS is wrapped during the day for his shorter naps (around 1 hr) and is in a sleeping bag at night and he sleeps really well in it. Only problem is I think his little arms are getting cold, without the wrap he puts this above his head. He is in a longsleeved AIO, but some of them dont have the little mittens in them.

He is also in a safety sleep, so still has that close contact which I think he still needs.

It took him a little longer to settle to sleep with an arm out but he did. So we left that arm out for night too. A couple of days later we left both arms out & just wrapped his torso up to under his arms. This was also with the grobag on at that point with the wrap over top. Then finally no wrap & just the grobag. I was really stressed about it but with this slow weaning process he did really well. Good luck!

He was strong enough to get out of his wraps but wouldn't sleep unless wrapped! We started wrapping him with one arm out for sleeps. If he woke upset we would then swaddle him completely again but continued to put him down with one arm out. Over a week or two he adjusted and then we would wrap his body but not his arms (but would completely swaddle if he got upset). It took a while but we got there and now he sleeps in a grobag with his arms out on either side - cute

I know it will feel like they will never get used to it but keep trying!

I had to make bigger wraps to contain him after a while. Then from about 5 - 7 mths we tried to transfer him to a sleeping bag 3 times (lasted 3-7 days each time). We tried both cold turkey, and bag during the day & wrapped at night.

Then one day we were really struggling with wraps coming undone and him not going to sleep in the bag either then DH said "I don't think he likes the bag". We tried just blankets (old fashioned I know)
Low and behold DS prefered it. Then the struggle became keeping my little non-crawling but very mobile baby under blankets.
Now he sleeps in a cotton lined polar fleece all-in-one (no blankets) - sorted

We ended up transferring him to sleep baggies (like the pekemoe bags or pillow cases with a hole for the head) which worked a treat. Jack is now 9.5months and last week we took him out of the bags and he is sleeping fine. You might like to try the new method for day sleeps for a few days before trying a night sleep so he gets used to it.
