Most 1 year olds I know weight more than 9kg!!

Safe n Sound is a brilliant brand. They do rear facing to 12kg and their car seats are NB-18kgs. They also, if you are in a crash, will replace the whole carseat regardless of damage or not!

So, if we're popping into one or two shops, or if we're having a quick trip to the beach, then we use the Snap n Go wheels. But a whole day's outing is when we would use the pram or buggy. That said, when my daughter was very new I found that even going to one or two shops could take several hours as all of the shop assistants wanted to admire the baby!

I personally wouldn't have been without my capsule and SNG wheels. It is so easy to use them. You don't have to worry about waking the baby, and also it can be tricky to be lifting the baby in and out and to be fastening and unfastening buckles, so it's nice to just leave it in the capsule if you can.

My daughter is eight months and still in a capsule but she's now getting too tall for it so will have to make the switch in the near future. Will be sad to see the capsule and wheels go though!

We will get to at least 12 months if not longer (hopefully).
We love our capsule, it was fantastic when he was a NB we would just unsnap it from the base and away we went without disturbing him. He's too heavy to carry now but on the odd occasion we will carry him in it especially if its raining I think with capsules it depends on the brand and style you get. Author: SaffronLady
Subject: 33180
Posted: 06 May 2010 at 8:19am

We love our capsule. We had a casual play brand one - its the only one on the market that lies completely flat so you don't have to worry about restricting bubs airways by being cramped in a normal capsule for too long. It snaps into our pram (mutsy brand and also the casual play brand - both are european brands). They are quite expensive but well worth it. The capsule comes with a base so it snaps in and out of the car as well - so much easier that strapping the seatbelt over it everytime!

We had issues finding carseats/prams that fit into my tiny car so make sure you trial everything in your car before buying.

We are planning on having more kids and we like the fact that this capsule goes from birth to 13kgs or when they get too long for it. We are currently looking at getting the next carseat which I hope will be one that lasts from now and for a couple of years.

I think it's important that you get a specialised capsule for little babies, they are so delicate and its well worth the money.

I second checking the date of manufacture! And also check whether they last 6 or 10 years - especially if you want more kids.

Good luck!

If you're going to have 3 close together (who will be in seats and/or boosters depending on their size), you might want more narrow seats, like the Radian but these are tall so might not work so well in your car. Check out the carseat thread in the "In the news" section. The other great place for info is The Nappy Network car seat thread.

I think they're still going the free car seats out West so you will get the Evenflo one for free but it is big and bulky!

I think we won't bother with a capsule but ideally buy a carseat which can be used from birth and then for as long as possible.
I know the ability to rearface the seat is always top on the list from on any saftey checks - anything else that is important or useful?
