My DS always has been (and I suspect always will be!) a short day sleeper. Randomly he will do a few days of 2 hours in the afternoon (? growth spurts) but generally he copes with 1 to 1.5 hours a sleep all day. Doesn't affect night sleep.

We too will be doing the whole time difference thing next month when we go back to the UK to visit. We did it before but he was 3-4 months - jet lag wasn't an issue (for him!!!).

It should take a few days before it settles back to what you had before -i.e. was he sleeping through the night before etc? I would aim to not let him sleep too long (use the answers on here as a guide and based on what he was like before) during the day and make your bedtime routine very obvious and consistent. I am obviously speaking as one who hasn't really a clue what is probably going to hit me next month -

share your tips when you get it sorted again!!!

Interesting to hear that most babies are having lots of day sleep. DS only has about 1 1/2 to 2 hours of day sleep all together. That is three short day sleeps. You are so lucky to be having a two hour block!

We're going to have the travel/time difference issue in a few months. A month ago she was doing 2 x 2 hour naps and a 45min catnap in the afternoon. She now only does 2 naps of 45mins to 1 hour. It seems like dropping the catnap has thrown her sleep for a loop completely.

Generally if you are consistent they will eventually sort things out for themselves.

I wake her after 2 hours.

bed at 7 pm and sleep of around 11 hours.

Some kids go to bed earlier after first nap, my neice only lasted 1 1/2 hours after waking in the morning, but I think most are similiar to my little girl.

Not sure about the time zone issue. I guess you just have to be consistent and reinforce that's it night time. Big hugs as I imagine its tricky.
