Could be. I would use it as an introduction, it is a good intro into the where do wees come from conversation. Arianne has started showing interest in me going to the loo. She has peed out of a nappy a few times after her bath and when she does she looks at me and looks at the floor and says "uh oh"

It's time to tt when they can tell that they need to go to the toilet and can express that need, basically. So if your girl has the physical and verbal skills to tt and is willing then go for it. My little girl has been showing interest in the toilet on and off for the past few months (17mths old now) we put her on when she asks and don't push the issue otherwise. For us it is a very child directed process, my son just up and decided to start using the toilet at 2 years old, he just announced that he needed to go to the toilet one day and that was it. Oh yeah I didn't worry about undies for Jake coz they can be tricky to get up and down which can make for accidents. Babe, funny Mum said to me you don't see many grown men walking around in nappies!

I bought a few pairs of trakkies today (figured they would be better than jeans) and some undies for both Daniel and Ashlee and will see how we go next Friday (I work tue wed thurs) I'm not going to force them, will just see how we go!

Jake TTd himself at 18 months - I hadn't even thought about it. He saw his Dad and wanted to copy so maybe get Daniels dad to take him to the loo?? Jake also finds it better to pee standing up so maybe you could make a game of aiming?? You too whitewave - get Campbell to aim his pee at a bulleyes in the bottom of the potty??

I think awareness is key from the childs point of view.

We (fingers crossed) seem to have just got the TT thing for DD1 after a loooonnnggg process. She had decided she wanted to wear knickers but she really didn't have any awareness that she needed to go so she would go (sometimes) after she had done a little bit in her knickers but without knowing the sensation that it was coming it became very frustrating. It also didn't help that she would happily sit in wet knickers all day

Campbell's 14 months old too - he's started the annoying habit of peeing on the floor a lot as soon as I take his nappy off! So I figure he's got at least some awareness.
I bought him a potty to at least get him familiar with it, even if he doesn't get the idea of actually peeing in it for months. But at the moment he hates sitting on it, and I can't keep him on there either! There's absolutely no pressure though, I just let him jump off.

I think its not about the age but the readiness of the child. I've seen children trained at 1, and others that started at 3 and a half.

But i think you can always have a potty or stuff avaliable and encourage them to be comfortbale with them, or using them. Then i think look for signs they might be ready - do they know if they are wet or dry or need to poo. Are they keeping dry for longer periods of time. Do they have some self help skills in this area?

For us, we lucked out with DS. It was September (he was 2years and 2 months old) and we had had a potty out for about 6 months, but werent getting him to use it, he'd just play with it at times. We'd decided to maybe start trying over Christmas as we all had a few weeks off. Well one day he came home from daycare and announced he wanted to go on the toilet. We sat him on and he went! The next few days he kept a nappy on, but would ask to go to the toilet, and his nappy stayed dry. We took the nappy off, went to undies, and that was that. He didnt have 1 accident (till about 4 months later when we went through some big home changes) and also stayed dry through the night.

I was born and bought up for the first few years in Singapore and the home help that Mum had toilet trained my fully before i was a year old.

The thing is though - when i was in the home helps care before i was TT i didnt wear nappies - just knickers and she carried a rag (yeah not my cuppa tea either but it was common practise) so you seemingly kids become aware of wet really easily.

So it is more than possible with the right kid and the right situation

IMO there is no point starting until they have awareness of the need to pee and some control over it. I have tried a couple of other times with DD2 and it has resulted in utter frustration for her and me. This time it just clicked as she really understands it now. Try reading up on this stuff, it may give you some ideas about how to go about it. Im going to give it a go when bubs arrives. We have a girl in our centre who has been going to the potty -succesfully- since she was 6 months old.

Just one note of warning. I'm probably way ahead of myself but...  I'm slowly trying to TT Daniel and in the process have been getting Ashlee to sit on the potty too.  Tonight she did a wee in the potty and was aware of it. 

So I thought maybe I should do them together?  But is she too young?  She has been walking since she was 10months so is steady on her feet and sits and stands up easily?

So how early is too early?
