As others have said it is really no big deal. You get headphones and they play music to drown out some of the noise. Hmm, I thought if it was your wrist you lay down on your tummy and stick your hand out. I had to have one a few years ago and I kept moving so got told off! As long as its an MRI not an MR arthrogram - they are SORE!! I've had a couple, they are just boring! They often play a radio station but you can't hear it through the noise

It doesn't sound like it's toooooo bad. I will probably talk to people the whole time to get my mind off it. That clip on YouTube is awesome!! Have to admit I looked at the metal one as well....I am going to make double and triple sure I have no earrings, nose studs or tongue studs in place!!!! I had one when I had my TIA (sorta like a mini stroke ) when I was pregnant with Ty .
It was horrible
BUT , I was 37 weeks pregnant and had to lie half on my side the entire time
and it was the same place where my friend had died suddenly a year ago ,so there was emotional suckiness involved too

My first one i had a bit of a panic attack cos they told me to close my eyes and when i opened them i was extremely disorientated. I couldnt close my eyes i had to focus on something kinda like when im at the gym and on the treadmill........focusing on the digital timers helps.

My second one i asked them if i could keep my eyes open when they put me in and made sure they adjusted the mirror so i could see outside(that was never offered first time which was very annoying) and DH came in and i asked him to touch my feet so i knew he was there. I also watched a digital timer count backwards with each test. I didnt find the noise very bad, in fact i focused on each weird noise

Unfortunately they arent much fun for us claustrophobic but the second time around i knew what to expect so it wasnt as bad and i never had a panic attack. Altho im not in any rush to do it again

I was quite lucky i didnt have to have one when preg with my second boy cos he was a very very jumpy baby even when preg, where as my lil man now wasnt phased by it one bit (not that you have to worry about that I assume)

I had one today (to check to see if I have anymore gall stones after having stones and gall bladder removed) im not claustrophobic but when I first went in I did feel freaked out but that only lasted 10sec. But no they arent that bad they are quiet nosiey so that might take your mind off of where you actually are. Also closing my eyes helped. You can also ask or talk to the people at ANY time thoughout the whole thing.

You lay on a table which goes into a machine what will hum and buz and click and you have to keep still for a wee while. if its for your wrist im led to beleive they will get you to hold your arm into the machine, not put your hole body in there..
