If you're in Auckland there are frequently free evenings in association with Plunket where you can turn up at a specified park/reserve and there are professionals there that do it on the spot for no charge.

That's how we got ours done. Although then we bought a Brio that doesn't need a tether bold anyway.

Maybe ring your local plunket and see if they know of any coming up. Hi there -

We have a safe and sound carseat - I think it is a Royal one.. but I can't remember as it is 5 yrs ago. We have it rear facing for Jayden but the seat belts are soo tight but I might see if I can get a plunket person to view if we have it in the car correctly and if we actually do need a new one...I want to get a new one..lol

Hi Renee and Lauren it is my understanding that if you buy a carseat with a tether strap you have to use it which will mean that you need a tether bolt. This has to be used in conjunction with a seatbelt or latch system though

What sort of carseat are you talking about?

I have a question regarding tether straps. Do ALL cars have to have them with carseats in them or what? I got given a phone number of a guy who does it when I bought the seat (from Kiwibaby in Mt Roskill), he came to the house, which was brilliant.

I'll have to have a look for a hole.

I was too she said you might be able to put it in the parcel tray (It's a sedan) she gave me a workshop to go too but didn't really say if I could take it anywhere else.

DP will just do it I think there are clear instructions on how to do it so should be able to sus it out.

Our car is 10 years old and had no tether hole but DH just put it inusing the cordless drill.

We just did it ourselves. Our cars & even Ute have already got holes drilled. We have just brought a new seat for DD and need to get a tether bolt installed.

DP works on cars modifying them etc and his brother is a mechanic. Can they put it in or will we have to find a certified installer?
