This is too good to be true, because for it to work you would have to pay yourself !

because who would pay you for looking after your own kids, not the ministry of education. !!

So it's a no go which is a pain because imagine if
you could i would get $20 an hour as at the moment can only have 2 extra kids to make a total of 4 so only $10 an hour so not worth it.Rate is $5 per hour. Other homebase services pay more though.

It sounds odd to me, so I refused to do it, as I don't want it affecting our subsidies at the other daycare or not, and would rather pay my MIL that money outright if she so desperately wants it.

TBH it sounds way too good to be true.

    Author: Kallie
Subject: 32679
Posted: 06 April 2010 at 8:33am

Hi! I have been working as a home based educator for the last two years , towards the end of last year my visiting teacher came round one day after being up at a conference up north and said that the ministry of Education were bringing in a new thing where if home based educators have children of their own they can get paid for having their own child for any hours that they have extra's. At first i thought that sounded a bit crazy to get paid looking after your own child/children but she was sure and said they wanted to encourage home based care and keeping your children at home with you... anyway a few months went by as she said she was looking into how you go about it and came back finally and said it was a no go. It didnt really bother me but now im just wondering if anyone else has heard of this and maybe it is true but the organisation i work for isnt going to do it , or maybe she just got her facts wrong and it was never something that was put in place.?
It's just if it is actually is something you can get it would make a huge difference for us especially when no2 gets here and i can only have 2 extras and ill only make $8 per hour.

if anyone else has heard anything about it or just knows its wrong i would love to have the record set straight!! TIA
