I was actually getting disheartened cos my baby would save his smiles for DH.........now its the other way around thank goodness.
He also rolled heaps all day and the next day a couple of times but now hes over it so hasnt done it again for ages. My 2nd was very onto it with his milestones so i was getting worried at first as well but ive relaxed on it all now and know hes generally on par and if he takes a wee bit longer at things it means i get to keep a baby longer

Aha!  Both those noises would go well with what I call the "shark attack".  Eyes scrunched up evily, mouth wide open, head shaking from side to side.......then sudden lunge forward to suck the life out of it's unsuspecting prey.

Hehehehe, this made me laugh! Jamie does this, along with a sort of angry donkey noise, like a breathing in 'EEEEEEH' and then a breathing out 'AWWWW" afterwards. It makes him laugh when I do it back to him.

Gabrielle didn't smile till she was 15 or 16 weeks old (she was 6 weeks prem but still...). I was so worried about it I mentioned it to the paed and had her eyes checked out but nope, there was nothing wrong with her. Ok you have to picture a pterodactyl swooping in for a kill... and it opens it's mouth wide, the food escapes and it gives a peeved off RRaaaarrr! sort of like an high pitched, over grown, angry seagull.... it's a throaty squealy screech... Nathan smiled at 11 days old and not windy smiles - so all babies are different! But it was like once a week for a little while or thereabouts.

I had to look up about milestones as Nathan rolled once then 3x two weeks later then nothing. But he is sitting for a while before losing balance so I've read that's the main thing is that he is accomplishing some of it. Try not to worry (I do too). E wasn't smiling with me (as in we could get her to smile) until around 3 months old - there was the odd smile before then, but not often or when I was expecting it. Proper sounds - Hmmmm, I only remember screaming until at least 3, maybe 4 months.... that may be my mummy brain, but I don't remember her being really vocal for ages.... Chelsea first smiled at about 8 weeks, at 4am hehe. And she didn't giggle till like 6months or something! Now she's the happiest baby around and is always grinning and cracking up, even at complete strangers. Definitely doesn't mean there is something wrong with your little one (Chelsea was early too - 36w5d)

Try not to worry too much - easier said than done I know! (We thought she didn't like us lol, funny the things you think sometimes eh)

Eta: she first rolled at about 5months, crawled at 10months, and got her first tooth 2days before turning 1, and 2nd tooth just a couple of days ago. No signs of walking yet so she just does things a bit later than other bubbas too.

DH was convinced DS smiled at 5wks, I thought it was more like 7wks (DS was full term).
With laughing (can't remember dates now) I remember he did it once I was so excited I rang DH and work and got him to listen to it. DH then spent all weekend trying to make him laugh - but DS didn't. It was about 2 weeks after that before I heard it again.
Same with rolling. Saw it once or twice, then not again for a couple of weeks.
DS has no teeth and shows no signs of crawling, I'm starting to feel lagging behind, but he'll get there. Hmm Jackson first smiled at 5 weeks old but then didnt again for ages after that. He was 'talking' at 8 weeks.

I wouldnt worry too much, babies do things in their own good time

I know all babies are different and I shouldn't let it worry me, but I'm letting it worry me.  At what age did your babies start to smile and make proper sounds?  I was sure Kiara was smiling last week (very different from the little windy smiles) but she only did it a few times and hasn't done it since.  I know she might be a couple of weeks behind because she was prem but still......
