I cook scrambled eggs, and that's about it. Sometimes I use it to pre-cook veges for a vege lasagne.

I use it heaps though. My Mum used to cook alot in our microwave.....favourites were the lazy lasagna and Meatloaf (think they both came from the Alison Host book). She also makes the yuumiest lemon carrots! only way I will eat cooked carrots!

Mine come out looking more like a fried egg but no fat. I crack one into one of Caleb's feeding bowls, pierce the yolk, then cook for 30 minutes on high. If you don't pierce the yolk they will explode. i cook & reheat in ours.

I cook eggs, pasta, steam veges, spaghetti, baked beans things like that.

Here is a good one for poached egg in the microwave. DD loves this too.

Using boiled water from jug 1/2 fill a mug/measuring cup with water. Crack the egg into it, microwave on high for 30-45seconds. Its great ive never had it burst either.

It's especially great for dds lunch or to put in sammies.

lol about the eggs. When i was a kid mum brought home a brand new microwave, set it up and then had to go out again. Scrambled eggs are awesome in the microwave.

Just make up the usual mixture (eggs, milk, bit of butter, salt) and chuck them in the microwave for four minutes, then stirt and cook again until they look like scrambled eggs.

I mostly use mine for heating and defrosting food but do baked potatoes and rice in it. I used to use it a lot for chicken dishes and chocolate cake but now I use my crockpot for casseroles. I barely use ours at all these days but back when I was at uni I had no oven, only a microwave and so I bought a second hand microwave cookbook .... I tried a few things but nothing stands out enough to remember it now!

We used to have that Alison Holst book but we gave it to friends of ours when their oven stopped working and they couldn't afford to fix it.

Veges, pre-cooking meat, baby food, reheating/defrosting, chocolate pudding, the odd cake, pasta, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, umm.. lots! I cook rice in mine, its got a pre-set rice function.
Also fish can be cooked nicely in the microwave, I also use it a lot for cooking veges.

We didn't have one for years but it quickly became a requirement when babies came. I mainly use it for reheating but 'baked' potatoes aren't too bad out of either

I use mine all the time, mainly for reheating/defrosting though.   I do have the Edmonds microwave cookbook that I use on occasion, many maggi mixes have the microwave instructions too.

i use mine to reheat and defrost but i havent cooked in it, mainly because i dont have the right bowls/dishes to cook stuff in! i do have a couple of microwave recipe books though. also the big red alison holst book has a lot of microwave recipes too and they look YUM so i must get around to trying it sometime.

Good question! When our microwave blew up a year ago we didn't even bother replacing it because we realised we never used it. We now have a stereo in it's place!

I have Alison Holt's vintage Microwave Cookery book that my MIL brought me from the Sally's (I Alison she is my guru) I haven't tried any recipes yet though as I don't usually use it to cook anything other than 2 minute noodles and porridge. I was just heating up some left overs and it got me thinking does anyone use their microwaves to actually cook food in, not just heat it back up.

I remember when i brought my microwave i got a book with a few recipes like how to cook a whole chicken and make cakes and stuff. I know there are recipe books you can get for microwave cooking as well.
