Okay this is going to sound really bad but DS did that once at about 11months, face planted on the floor and was very upset (day sleep). But I think he realised that it wasnt fun at all and he completely stopped trying to get out of the cot LOL

We put pillows down for his next sleep but honestly while he was happy to go to bed he didnt try to climb out ever again.

Having Cooper climbing out of his cot when he was much younger I've been waiting for it to happen again!

what a clever girl !!

Sure hope my DS doesnt figure it out that early... i would be considering a toddler bed.. a side rail and maybe put the old cot matress on the floor just incase.

Yep i'd say time to move out of cot, as i said in the march thread my DD1 had to go on the floor (on a mattress) as she would fall off the bed (even tho she had a side thingie) but her sleeps were not so great and most of the time ended up sleeping in the lounge or in our bed during the night. I'm not a mum yet- its still coming So can totally ignore what I say if you want!

But I've seen many injuries, broken arms, head injuries from kiddies climbing out of cots, IMO if they start climbing out, its time for a "big bed" or to go into a toddler bed. Not so far to fall, and easier to put something on the ground.

I agree, sounds like it would be safer for her to go into a toddler bed, even one with a side thingy so she can't roll out but can easily climb out without hurting herself.

Hi ladies, We have an issue! Emily has now figured she can climb out of her cot, she is a terrible sleeper so we have been trying to leave her to self settle at night as she wakes an hour after she goes to bed. so last night at 11.45 when she woke we stayed in our bed and waited for her to fall asleep but instead there was an almighty thud and she hit the floor! I felt terrible took ages to settle her and then she ended up spending the night in our bed as i was too scared to put her back in her cot.

Tonight at this stage we are going to put her mattress on the floor as i have no idea what else to do she is only just 1 is that too early to go into a bed? at least with a bed there is less distance to fall her cot dose go into a toddler bed so im wondering if we should do that but im worried that if she keeps hitting her head she will damage something. AHhhhh any suggestions????
