There are societies in which pre-chewing baby food is the norm.<br />It's not all the bacteria in the mouth, (babies need some anyway) but plaque.  Plaque is like an infection, once you've got it, you'll always have it.  Babies don't have it when they're born but will eventually catch it.  <br />My dentist wanted me to start taking bliss tablets (like inner health plus for your mouth) so that baby would get the good bacteria from me more than the bad.]]>

Babies without teeth maybe be able to eat the food but without teeth they wont produce the enzyme..<br /><br />Normally I would add a link about this but I dont have the energy, I do know that a friends paed actually told her not to give her baby rice until he had teeth for this reason....]]>

Obviously not a good idea with nuts so the way you are doing it is probably the best, but be aware that your mouth contains more nasty stuff than a babies one does. I remember being warned not to let my baby use my toothbrush cause of what we contain in our mouth.]]>
