You could try the Ergo Sport - its got longer straps than the regular ergos so you wouldn't need to get the extender. But like someone else said - I wouldn't use it for a really little bub. I've also got a DnZ which I love and a natures sway which I hate (well maybe thats a bit harsh, was great when he was newborn but is truely useless now).
If I had my time over again I would get a moby - the thought of learning how to put them on freaked me too much early on. umm, my Unido is completely hands free. Bubs is nice and secure in there even when he was a NB and little he was quite secure in there.

Hi - I got a ring sling and a 'pouch' style sling that I never ended up using because I didn't find them secure enough.

My little one was very prem & was really small when we brought her home & I ended up getting an Hug-a-Bub which I loved early on because it is so secure & bub loved it too. But it is front carrying only & I stopped using it when the weather warmed up because I just got too hot with the extra layers.

Now I only use my Ergo (with the waist extender strap). I love that bub is right up against me & she calms right down as soon as she is in it, and when we are out she far prefers to sleep in it than in her buggy.

My only concern would be for a small baby - I never used the Ergo insert, it just didn't look secure enough to me & being larger I was scared bub would get smothered! But with a small baby the material between their legs is too wide and stretching their legs apart & trying to get them to fit comfortably around my waist just didn't work. Freesia - If you try them on while pregnant it may not work that well either. I'm a bigger girl (size 20-22) and tried my moby on at around 35 weeks. I felt it was too tight and couldn't get it to sit right. Now I love it though.

I'm not a big big girl but not exactly rail thin either, but in my experience the Moby is actually quite flattering to the curvier figure

Can you go virtually hands free with the Unido's or do you have to still support them to some extent? I'm thinking more at a newborn stage.

And are the Ergo's quite bulky? I like the look of them but because of their size, I'm not sure if it's something I'd want to use all the time. I love my Unido! Julia recommend them to me when I first had Frano and i am loving it. Have recommended them to heaps of people.

I would have said ..

  • Mei Tai - You can have them made with longer straps
  • Ergo - with an extender
  • Moby
  • Unido sling - as these are made to custom fit

ok i am a larger lass - poss the same size or bigger than you... i have used a meitai and an ergo and also a dulce & zoet pouch sling.

with the ergo i had to get the extender strap for round my middle and my husband assured me i didnt look silly wearing it!

i probably used the d&z sling the most but enjoyed the mei tai more when eden was a little bubba.

Hi guys, I am about a size 24 pre-preg and would just like opinions from other bigger mums what carriers they found to be good with their babies, carrier/sling/wrap, anything like that.

Going from measurements online, there seem to be quite a few that just straight out won't fit, but I'm also thinking along the lines of comfort and whether my belly will get in the way of the carrier functioning properly, etc. Any help/hints appreciated.
