    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=19705">Blankney94</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 31846<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 February 2010 at 8:31pm<br /><br /><P align=left>I've bought liquid Persil Top Loader Sensitive - let's give that a shot!&nbsp; Was tempted to buy their "high performance" one - but what additional chemicals it might have, who knows?</P><P align=left>I washed the washing machine physically using a pot scrub and a bottle brush to get inside the agitator (it had some sort of schunge in there <IMG src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0">).&nbsp; I washed and rinsed all the removable parts.&nbsp; Then I put through a hot empty wash.&nbsp; When filled with hot water I put in some vinegar (about half a bottle) and a good handful of baking soda.&nbsp; Not working off any recipe here but knew there was enough baking soda/vinegar when the water starting fizzing slightly.&nbsp; </P><P align=left>Would be interested in home made washing powder recipes - I'm going to Bin Inn tomorrow.</P>]]>

Smells great, cheap as chips and eco friendly! And gets stains out (most of the time).</P>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=22977">MyLilSquishy</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 31846<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 23 February 2010 at 2:52pm<br /><br />we get those huge 5kg bags of surf washing powder from TWH.... its normal strength, but i use half a scoop of that, with half a washing powder scoop of Frend OxyAction Max (white container, half the price of Napisan and works better IMO) and my clothes always come out stain free. and look great. used to use the Reflect, and again found it great. i dont bother paying huge amounts of money for washing powder when the cheapest stuff works better lol.<br /><br />i continusouly have probs with 2x strength stuff aswell, but its more a case of it doesnt dissolve aswell in our machine (its a new machine, but just doesnt like 2x strength) so yeah.... thats my 2 cents lol. ]]>

I've used persil for years and don't bother with the other brands. I use about a half scoop for a normal wash (5.5kg machine) and a whole scoop if the clothes are particually dirty. If you buy it on special it's not that much more <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> ]]>

Also I heard that some eco plant based powders can eat away at your clothes, wool pockets especially. <BR>I used surf for ages and then the changed it and I went to ecostore, and the plunket one argh....rack my brains to remmeber what its called. That one was quite good actually, still a bit pricey. <BR>Otherwise I'm using Babe's homemade wash for Dh's work gear linen and towels. I'm just after something nice and sensative for my nappies and the clothes. ]]>

If i remember to I might put some sard wonder soap on something that I think will stain but not generally. I think persil is a bit more expensive but just try and stock up when it is on special. I have been trying ecostore on the nappies just out of interest but thinking that persil still gets the stains out better. Oh and we live on a farm too but use well water so not sure if that makes any difference.]]>
