I think turning placentas into capsules that other people can eat as supplements is creepy!!

There's a new company out called Birth to Earth that sells eco-friendly placenta storage and planting containers -- I met them at the Parent & Child Show and was really impressed. Another option if you do decide to plant it! http://www.birthtoearth.com/

teddy bears... that was creepy!
We kept DS placenta and planted it in a big plant pot with a kowhai.
We got the kowhai & pot for our first pregnancy which miscarried and we got that cremated and it's scattered in the pot too.

I'm with Cuppatea - the idea is a nice one. Perhaps find out about placenta cremation (if such a thing exists?), pop it in a box inside a teddy/cusion/keepsake of some kind?

I don't think the idea is that gross but the end product looked very creepy and frankensteinish (the teddy that is).

We didn't keep ours but our first mw told us loads of people plant them up on the port hills in CHCH, so I assume they are allowed to do that. My mums friend kept her babies placenta's in the freezer, someone broke in and stole the freezer along with the placenta's - heres hoping they didn't eat them!!

I did think of a planter tub but wasnt too sure if it was deep enough. We have a river down the end of our section and theres a picnic area down a wee bit that anyone can go to. We planted a flax and buried it under that so she can go back to it if she ever wants to. You aren't suppose to plant them in Council property but this one is quite secluded and only us and the neighbours know its there. There is a special reserve in Nelson that you can plant them in as well so you could see if theres one in your area.

someone told me their are parks or reserves that you can plant a tree at bury the placenta so your child can always visit it

Ok I for some reason during my first pregnancy decided that I wanted to keep Tristens placenta so thus of course Ive also kept Rylans & will keep this bubbas too.

Only thing is what can I do with them? Im a little reluctant just to plant a tree in the garden with them under incase we move (even though we do own the house)
